Can this get longer than the Diablo II thread?
Kingdom of Loathing
Just discovered this-- I’m totally behind the times. Damn funny. Pastamancer.
Anyone else playing this?
I haven’t played for a few days and I’m only up to Level 5–Chromatic Cook.
I get irritated at some of the areas, because I end up loosing all of my HitPoints and have to “run away like a sissy”. So I’ve been hanging around the easy areas until I build up some power.
Oops—I meant “Chromatic Crook”.
I’m playing this game right now… as I do every minute I’m at the computer.
I’m a level 11 Bay Leaf Brujo with a primary interest in making a killing at the mall.
And I’ve just started the clan “Friends of Cecil” if any dopers are in need of such a clan. </shameless plug>
I started playing over the summer, but I lost interest. I just tried to sign in again, but I can’t remember my password, darn it.
My three brothers all got addicted to the game, though.
I love this game. It’s sadly addictive. I’m a level 9 Caribou Smacker with a goat familiar, but we’re just friends, I swear!

How do you get Familiars? I have one of those Terrariums and have had it for some time now. Is it just random or do you have to meet them on your Adventures?
Oh man, I had forgotten. It’s been so long my account lapsed… okay, time for a new Pastamancer!

Familiars can be quite helpful. You should also track down a detective skull.
Thanks!
One more question: where is the Hermitage? Do you have to have a task completed or be at a certain level for it to arrive on the map?
You need a Hermit Permit, available at the Market in Town. Once you have it, the Hermit will appear in the Mountains.
I tried it out a while back then got stuck and had no idea what the heck I was supposed to do.
I’ll read that FAQ and start with a new character.
I applied to join the Friends of Cecil… let me in! let me in! I promise to put my awesome pastamancery at the disposal of the fight against ignorance. Especially ignorance amongst the Knob Goblins.
I’ve also applied for the clan-- I’m Spung the Pastamancer.
My mosquito, Tinkerbell, is getting big!
I’m level 4, almost 5 (tomorrow, I believe). I need to figure out how to get a worthless item so I can get the Hermit to give me the Sweet Rims so I can make the Dope Wheels. I want a car so I can go down to the Shore.
Oh, and a tip for the newbies like me: as soon as you can get into the Flea Market (which I think is level 3), do so. Take a look at what’s selling, and sell some of it yourself to make quick meat.
And the best place I have found so far for getting interesting stuff (at least for me as a Pastamancer) is the Barrel Full of Barrels. Just watch out for the mimics.
To get a Worthless Item, you need to stock up on chewing gum on sticks from the Market and just keep visiting the Sewer until you get one.
Man, whenever I go to the Barrel full of Barrels I get my ass whupped.
I have gotten Doctor Hobo’s Scalpel, though. I liked that quest.
So. Investment: EZ-Bake Oven or a lasagna band-aid spell first?
Wow, this is a fun game, but I can’t play for very long. Is there aneasy way to get food and drink? In the fleamarket a tomato cost 500 meat and will get you one turn extra. Is there some other way to get turns or other way to get food and drink to up your turns?
I’d go with the Lasagna Bandages first, if I were you. It usually takes a little while before you build up a lot of good stuff to cook with, but the spell will be useful immediately.
Hmm…maybe I should go see about the Friends of Cecil clan, since it’s been awhile since I played.
