Yep, I like those also, toffee candy for holiday and decadence, nut roll for afternoon pick me up
The lil’wrekker recently brought home a Hersheys cookies and cream. She assured me it would change my life. One tiny bite, I assured her it, indeed, did not change my life. Nasty.
Well, Lil’wrekker wasn’t wrong. Your life changed in that you now know that Hersheys cookies n creme is not good candy.
When it comes to chocolate bars, which I don’t eat a lot of, it is Dove chocolate or nothing.
Not sure if Kit Kats are “the best” but they are certainly near the top.
the hershey gold ones are almost better than the original bars tho ,
Is this a particularly large candy bar? Up until you reach 1 lb sizes, I’ve always considered the serving size of candy to be ‘one package’ (to cover the case of things like Reese’s/M&Ms/Skittles that have several pieces).
I do remember a Youtube clip of some British game show (likely 8 Out of 10 Cats Do Countdown) where people were shocked that one of the female panelists had eaten an entire (to my eye not particularly large) candy bar. Maybe it is my American gluttony?
I used to love those - my favorite niche candy is a Nut Goodie bar. Both are Pearson’s products. Probably my Minnesota roots.
I’m really confused by this thread. What is it about KitKat that makes it so popular? I don’t hate it, it’s a perfectly good candy bar. But I would have placed it squarely in “boring, mediocre” as candy bars go.
So, those of you who love KitKat, what about it do you love?
“Love” is a strong word, but Kit Kat is one of the few candy bars I enjoy. It has a nice balance of sweet, salt, and texture. I hate Milky Way, Three Musketeers, etc., because all they are is a treacly mess of sugar and little else. Snickers are okay, though, as they add a textural component plus the salt and contrasting flavor from the peanuts.
Note that I mention upthread I love Whatchamacallits, and it’s largely for the same reason: it’s a mix of flavors and textures without the over-the-top cloying sweetness of other candy bars. (Or at least they don’t seem as sweet to me. They certainly still are sweet, but the “crispy” layer mitigates it for me.) Of course, I grew up on chocolate/vanilla/hazelnut wafer-type desserts, so adding a thin layer of chocolate to encase it just makes it all the better to me!
The invention of the Snickers Bar was Nobel Prize worthy. For number two, I’d suggest the Snickers Almond Bar which used to be called the Mars Bar.
Seconded. But I think there is some debate whether or not they are a candy ‘bar’.
Heath was made (and almost ruined) by Leaf for a few years until Hershey acquired the brand. They, eventually, restored them to their former glory. Strange that Hershey still makes Skor as well.
I have always loved Zero Bars. Originally made by the long-defunct Hollywood Candy Company, they are still being made by Hershey but they are hard to come by. My last source was, of all places, Orchard Supply Hardware which is now gone.
i knew someone who would only eat Godiva chocolate bought from an actual Godiva store … and anything lesser than that or store bought was for the peasants …
last time I bought one for a charity thing in Macys years ago it was 5.00 a bar was it heavenly? yes, worth 5 bucks a pop? maybe once or twice a year …
my somewhat hard to find is 100 grand bars which is a huge improvement on the crunch bar dollar tree used ot have the fun size bags by the crate load …now there hard to find
I find them in Walmart usually … but only the king size bars… I’ve only seen a non-king size bar once … oh I have seen a bag or two of fun size ones around the last Halloween … .
I occasionally find them at independently owned convenience stores and gas stations.
Bar-one.
It’s a derivative of the MArs Bar, but as often happens, the ripoff is better than the original.
I’ve posted in this thread, read it with interest, felt opinions…and then I realized I haven’t actually eaten a candy bar in years. :smack: This is just candy porn to me.
Just thinking about these makes me fell funny like I did as a teenager riding public transportation.
Count me in!
