Kittens + monkeys = win

Perfect internet fodder: videos of monkeys adopting kittens. I mean, really, that one’s hard to beat.

In short: some wild monkeys in Indonisia have taken to adopting kittens. I don’t why they adopt them. I don’t know where they find them. But it’s pretty darn cute.

(And all those comments about how the kitty is really a terrified cat-napping victim were made by people who have obviously never seen an actual scared cat).

I’m curious about where they find the kittens, too. It’s sweet, though.

Ah. A glimpse into the past, and into the roots of modern ranching practices.

Did you ever see the children’s book Koko’s Kitten? It’s the true story of Koko, a gorilla used in sign language studies, who asked for and got a pet kitten. I remember taking it out of the library repeatedly when I was small.

OKCupid?

I chuckled.

Oh, so that’s where the line Bender comes out with in Jurrasic Bark when he talks about love “Not in the way of the ancient Greeks…or sometimes the love of a gorilla for a kitty.”:o Thanks for clearing that up.

Not the book specifically, no, but I’ve read about All Ball.

I felt bad when I learned All Ball got hit by a car. :frowning: Poor Koko.

I’ve seen scared cats. Those kittens don’t look terrified, but their body language tells me that they’d like to be someplace else (or at least walk around a bit).

I saw pictures on Cute Overload of teh pair and the kitty looks pretty happy.

Something about them strikes me as hilarious when I watch the videos.

I wonder if every jungle has that one crazy cat monkey…

What you can’t see, off-camera, is that other monkey playing with bits of flint and a primitive griddle.

I don’t have a good feelings about this.
What do the kittens eat? Was the black and white one nursing?

cute till you think about it. cats and monkeys have different diets. doesnt look good for the kitty.

and if it does grow up, how long before it turns on the monkey? it will be the same size lol. and when it does that, the monkeys gonna tear it limb from limb.

Cat vs. monkey. Hmmm…

You know how sometimes when you flick your eyes over text, not reading it, and the quick impression isn’t what is written?

This just happened with the thread title, and the impression was ‘Killmonkeys’.

Aren’t monkeys omnivorous? A little Googling reveals that the monkyes in question are sometimes called “crab-eating macaques”.

Also, why would the cat turn on its “parent”? It may be a cat, but it thinks its a monkey.

The kittens really do not look happy to me.
I don’t know much about the behavior of monkeys. Apes eat all sorts of things, including each other.

All I can say is that the situation requires a multi-million dollar field study and a cable series.
