Murphy uses this special litter, it looks like tiny plastic balls. Its clear, I think its called Crystal -something.
Anyhoo…this stuff is awesome! At the pet store they had a tester set up, a pan of litter and a spray bottle of amonia. You soak a spot, like a cat would, then you feel the crystals. they are BONE CRY. And there was no smell either!
So I keep the litter box in the bathroom, when he poops, we scoop and flush. The urine is absorbed into the crystals, and there is no scooping, clumping smelly stuff.
Its almost $20 a bag, but a bag lasts a month. I figure its worth it in the long run.
Anyone else seen this stuff? Tried it?
I haven’t heard of that one, but I found another one by accident that works great too. It’s called Simplicity Plus. Scooping-type.
Hubby picked it up at the cheap store and I was kinda ticked at him till I used it. It works great too, much better than the name brands I’d been buying. $2.50 for the 7 pound container.
Isn’t it great? Finding something that works!!
That crystal stuff sounds amazing, I’m going to have to look for that. I INSIST that our (the cat’s) litter be both clumping and flushable. Right now we’re using Cat’s Pride Scoop & Flush, which I believe is a paper based product. I’m pretty happy with it but if I can get something like you’re talking about with no smell, hell that’s even better!

Alas, my Hannah cat at age 11 has not cottoned to any of the new technolgies—she refuses to use litter box if any clumping-type litter awaits her deposits. It’s hard to teach this old cat new tricks, so it’s back to the old stuff.

I will have to call the pet store and get the brand name and manufacturer.
It really is the best stuff, so clean…even if the little peices get tossed out of the box, they are dry as a bone.
My kitty uses Fresh Step regular; it’s what she’s used to. For just one cat, I found the clumping stuff was way more work than just regular old cat litter. Scoop every day, change once a week, and it works just fine. I have no sense of smell to speak of, so I can’t tell about that, but none of my visitors have complained, FWIW.
The pet store near me has the Crystal Pearls – I think that’s the name – and it is intriguing. I thought of trying it, but Enid isn’t the sort of cat who adapts to change very well.
I detest Litter Pearls. I find they start to smell after a few days, and are a real mess to clean after a while - the bottom of the box gets all sticky. Worst of all, those pearls are like ball bearings - impossible to sweep up completely, and can be found all over the place.
But hey, if they work for you…
