Knock it off with OMG, this is teh bad!!11!!

Can we all agree that “repeating back the other guy’s opinion with bad grammar and spelling, typos, AOL-style acronyms, the non-word ‘teh’, and 11’s in place of exclamation points” is an ineffective argument, and too trite to be funny? Thanks.

But we R L33t!

:stuck_out_tongue:

I find it really annoying, too, but can you provide a cite for the behaviour? I don’t think I’ve seen it on the boards recently…

Now that Brutus isn’t around the usage has dropped quite a bit, but it still pops up now and then.

I agree completely

Aren’t you preaching to the choir here? Could you have picked a more articulate board to post this on?

Terrible pitting, and the complaints on this style of typing are as tired as the style itself. I give this rant a -1.

Goddamn French judges.

wAl7ER W1nch1Ll is the SUx0R2!11!

You shoulda offered them something better than Velveeta, dummy.

You misspelled “teh,” Lev.

Now Now Walter, it’s not that I’m hard on you because I don’t believe in you - in fact quite the contrary, I’m hard on you precisely because I do believe in you. I know your next rant will be a significant improvement. Shoot for a 2 or 3.

Sure you want to ban OMG! First, they take God out of our schools, then out of the pledge, and then…the acronyms! They’ll stop at nothing!

I think it’s about as cute as the inevitable “why do you hate America?” that pops up in every anti-Bush thread. I don’t think we’re going to see the end of either any time soon.

The correct usage is “!!!twenty-five!!!”

… and when they came for my l33t speech, I was all, “dude, sif.”

Here, Walter, you forgot your teeth. Should I yell at the kids to get off the lawn, now?

This is a small part of why I stopped visiting the WoW forums–in addition you get rampant ASCII art (at least until they cracked down on it), every stupid cliche known to man (and a few known to orcs), and, my personal un-favorite, mis-quoting someone and adding the words ‘Fixed it for you’. Most of these ‘jokes’ weren’t funny when they started.

Nah. The acronym is incorrect. It should be OMFG.

Clothahump FTW.

I have not seen OMFG in several years. The last I remember seeing it is shortly before I first observed the appearance of ZOMG. It was my understanding, since I see ZOMG being used as a more “intense” version of OMG, that ZOMG had simply usurped OMFG in popular usage. Or, is there some finer nuance between the two onto which I have not yet caught?
