Knocking on Heaven's Door- Which version do YOU hear?

I think you meant Nick Cave. Nicholas Cage has not, thank god, covered Heaven’s Door yet.

I hear Dylan. I prefer Zevon, but that’s not what pops into my head.

Dylan, hands down.

I hear Clapton’s version, but I prefer Dylan’s.

GnR for sure

My former co-worker Kevin singing the Guns ‘n’ Roses version at 08:30 in Tokyo. He got a standing ovation from a full house the first time he sang it.

Thanks saoirse.
Of course I meant Nick Cave…this is what happens when you read the bad accents thread and have “Put the Bunny in the box” going around your head all day.

G n F’n R

Dylan.

Another one for Sister of Mercy… ;j

(closest thing that looks like a goth smiley)

GnR, but I’ve heard that one far more than any other. Damn you, Trad’r Sam’s limited jukebox!

Dylan. I’d love to hear the Nick Cave version, though.

One more vote for the Robert Zimmerman Camp. (If we happen to be Dylan in obscure references.)

Dylan. Don’t know why anybody else bothered.

But I’m not a Dylan purist. I don’t know why anybody else … including Dylan … ever bothered to do “All Along the Watchtower” after Hendrix covered it.

Dylan.

I think of Dylan’s and Clapton’s about simultaneously.

Dylan.

Followed by the parody by John Lennon.

Dylan with The Band. Zevon’s a close second, though.
As for “Watchtower,” XTC did an interesting cover.

I hear Clapton’s version

Dylan. Partially because that’s the version they played on the trailer for “Black Hawk Down”

Heaven.

No, really. There is (or was) a metal band called Heaven.
