Kolchak Returns

I think the thing they’re doing right with Kolchak is combining the mystery genre with the supernatural genre. “Supernatural” is doing the same thing. It’s a formula that works, in good hands. I’m thinking Kolchak is in good hands. We’ll see how their ratings go. Another fave of mine that did the same thing, “Special Unit 2” and also ramped up the sexy, died after a season or two.

So far I’m enjoying it. This almost makes it a sure thing for being canceled.

For those annoyed with Kolchak’s house, there is, allegedly, an explanation:

PBRG beats Scully in the sexy department (not that there was anything wrong at all with Scully). She had a nice…spring in her step…in the last episode (first full episode I’ve watched). Personally, I’m not that impressed with what little I’ve seen of the series. Everything seems too clean for my tastes.

This is holding up pretty well.
An interesting way of telling the story, a plot twist not new, but good.
I like it.

Agreed. Creepy and well done.

Back to the pilot.

Werewolf bikers? Bikers who serve werewolves?

More glass. Every damn building in this show except Korean grocery stores is made of glass.

I’m getting really tired of the “wife of Kolchak murdered” plot. I want the story to be about the mosters, supernatural beings, etc., not Kolchak. Damn, that’s stupid.

It seems we are getting there. It’s his reason to be after things supernatural. The “real” Kolchak had a vampire in Las Vegas, this guy has a spouse killed by some kind of creature. I prefer the LV Vampire, but I’ll take what I can get.
It does serve to make a sort of arc, unlike a monster/bad guy of the week.

The show has been cancelled. Bummer. I was rather enjoying it.

It’s my first casualty of the new season, though I expect “Threshold” to follow soon.

It has? I haven’t seen that. :frowning: I was enjoying it too.

sigh Spotnitz, repeat after me 1,000 times: “Kolchak is crusty. Kolchak is not sexy. Kolchak must never be sexy. Sexy is the very antithesis of Kolchakness.”

Look, dammit, he ain’t…wasn’t…Kolchak. All they had in common was the Mustang.
It wasn’t Kolchak, but it was a good show.
