Kopi Luwak

I fondly remember one of Cecil’s all time classic columns about kopi luwak, coffee beans that travel through the digestive system of civets. Well, here is an update on the story, from the Toronto Star:

Welcome to the Straight Dope Message Boards, glm777, we’re glad you’re here.

One minor point: when you start a thread, it’s helpful to other readers/posters if you provide a link to the column in question. Yes, you provided some key words (kopi luwak) that make it easy to search, but it still takes time to search. So, here’s the link: Does civet come from tortured cats? Does kopi luwak coffee come from pre-eaten beans? - The Straight Dope

One major point: You quoted at length from an AP article. This is counter to our rules on quoting material and copyrights. See the thread on Rules, Guidelines, and Etiquette for Posting on the Straight Dope Message Boards and specifically What’s the policy on copyrights?.

This is your first post here, and we do want to be welcoming, so I’ve deleted the excess material and provided you with a link to the story. No prob, and as I say, we’re glad you’re here.
