More about Kopi luwak coffee.....

In one of his columns, Cecil describes the coffee made from beans taken from the feces of a particular animal - the palm civet.

Well, I was exploring the University of Guelph’s webpage, and guess what their latest news item is? Apparently research at Guelph has shown that kopi luwak coffee is even more bacteria-free than regular coffee!

Here’s the link to the article:

Anyone wanna volunteer for the potential taste test?

Cecil on Kopi luwak coffee

So, UOG tested Kopi Luwak (from malaysia) and compared it to regular ol’ coffee beans from Colombia, and found that they’re different – brilliant. I could have told them that Malaysian coffee and Columbian coffee are different without a GC or a palm civet.

shrug I didn’t design their research plan. I think the concern was fecal bacterial content, which,IMHO, is a concern when you’re drinking something that passed through some cats ass. The synthetic aspect could be interesting - no name ™ kopi luwak coffee

If you want, you can order some from Urban Fare in Vancouver(possibly on web, I’m not sure).

It goes for $600 CAD/ 100 grams, or something ludicrous like that.

$75 for 1/4 pound bags, here, which is still ludicrous:

The graphic is amusing, anyway …
