Koran scholar: US will cease to exist in 2007

Nah, earthquakes are the way to go. America land will still be here, though in 2007 we’ll be part of the global world order.

When I was in high school, some nutter declared that the world would end on, I dunno February 18th (I forget the actual date).

One of my friends bet me $5 that it would happen.

The scientific musings of religious nuts is always amusing. But the Koranic scholar shares that opinion with the late George Kennan, who died about 2 weeks ago:

About a dozen years ago, Kennan wrote that the United States was too large and diverse as a state to continue to exist as one country. So maybe it’s a metaphorical “tsunami” of political differences that makes multiple countries out of one.

Kind of like the breakup of Standard Oil or AT&T into Baby Bells.

Apologies to those of you on the coasts, but I’d love to have an ocean view from Kansas City. And think of the effect on the AL central! The Royals would be a sure thing to win the divison!

Oh yeah? You and what Missile Defense System?

That’s going to have to be one hell of a Tsunami. At least for me. Up here in Minnesota. Hmmmm. Will it come over the Appelachians, over the Rockies, or up from the Gulf of Mexico?

I suppose I better not rule out Hudson bay or Lake Superior.

The Royals couldn’t win the division if they were the only team in it.

The central would be the only division left, but most of it would still be standing. I see a world series victory for the Cubs at long last.

Watch out…the United States of Qwest would be a formidable nuclear power!

(God, that’s scary!)

If we didn’t the Pit would be awfully quiet.

While Krakatoa was not the largest volcanic explosion in human history (Mt. Etna’s explosion during the Roman epoch was larger) it only generated a tsunami of 120’. **ONLY. **

I live along the Puget Sound and it wouldn’t come within 50’ of our house.

Wouldn’t even get the mountain beavers. But that’s another thread on MPSIMS.

That’s why we all have guns. I’ve seen Canadian Bacon. I know what you bastards are up to. :dubious:

Maybe the tsunamis will wipe out government, and everything will be all Mad Max-ish. I’m gonna go stockpile weapons and ammo.

HAH! Everybody wants us New Yorkers to die! EVERYBODY!!

That’s just how badass we are.

No, Canucks, tsumanis won’t be stopped by your legendary Boundary of Damnitscold, you’re thinking of the killer bees. Sorry.

I wonder…tsunamis are caused my collapses of underwater rock formation, usually caused by an earthquake. Or perhaps the rockslide causes the quake.

Could such a rockslide happen in the Great Lakes?

Perhaps Chicago could encounter a tsunami.

I dunno, Bosda. I’ve been all over the northern midwest.

Them’s some fairly flat states, dere.

Wear rubber boots, your divineness.

Mountain beavers? Any relation to prairie oysters?

So this would create new coastal boundaries of what- Cleveland and Albuquerque?

Where will you get your Philly cheese steaks then, wiseguys?

:smack: if he’s right then…

nevermind.
