Korn computer virus?

My computer seems to be infected with some kind of malware/virus, and my uncle, a computer tech, told me to google for something called a “korn/corn space virus?” Which I did, but I can’t find jack on it. Anyone ever heard of it?

I can only find one real mention of anything like that here, so either it’s a pretty rare version or that particular name isn’t in common parlance. As for the ‘space’ part, no idea - but lots of malware eat up HDD space, so maybe that’s what he was referring to.

Or, you might have heard him wrong - Conficker is a very common virus.

Did he maybe say kernel virus and core space?

Well, you should be running an antivirus like Microsoft Security Essentials. That will detect and name your virus.

I have McAfee.

He did indeed say “cornspace” but he’s going to e-mail me instructions (I’ll have my father print them out at work, since obviously my computer will freeze before I have a chance to do so)
What I wouldn’t give for five minutes alone with the little motherfucker who wrote this fucking program that fucked up my computer in the first place!!!

How did your uncle know what virus you have?

I’m guessing she described some symptoms and he recognised them.

I think the space means he wants you to look for “korn virus” rather than “kornvirus”.

You won’t really be able to see the corn until your computer takes a big core dump.

The last time my computer caught a virus, I was running McAfee.

Naturally. He’s a computer progammer/tech who worked IBM until he retired.

I talked to him again last night – apparently, he meant to say “conficker” and got it wrong.

Please wish me luck! Virus writing assholes!!!
Well, I went to the test site and since it let me in, I don’t have it. FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!
Gotta go before this fucking machine freezes again.

You can find help in this sticky at the top of the GQ thread.

I recommend Spybot and MalwareBytes Anti Malware.

I have both. I suspect it was from those pop-ups that tell you “click here, your computer has been infected” or something like that that seem to be more prevalent lately.

This thing is going to DIE.
