KOTOR: Any cheats to LOSE levels?

So I finally got around to playing KOTOR, and I’ve just discovered that I’d RTFM wrong about level advancement. :smack:

So I now have a character who’s a level 5 Jedi and a level 9 scout–which means that I won’t be able to get my sweet level-12-Jedi force powers, due to the level limits in the game.

Anybody know if there’s a way to get rid of the extra non-jedi level?

I think you have to re-roll. But, hey, you get to replay all the earlier levels with a lot more fore-knowledge, right?

Whatever you wind up doing, KOTOR is a great game to replay. You can make different choices with regards to the side plots, and you can play “dark side” and get different Jedi powers than if you play “light side.”

Damn. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to start over for an initial run-though. I really hate it when the game designers put in level limits…

You also get a subtly different story if you play as a female Jedi. And nicer undies.

Trouble is, your Dark Side powers are so much better than the Light Side: clearing out the Sith Academy on Korriban is one of the great pleasures of gaming, as you get to show those pontificating Nietzschean wannabes that for all their monologues, when it comes to thuggery, buggery, skullduggery and general arse-kicking, they’re really just a bunch of dabblers.

Hunter Hawk, although KotOR II is flawed {read: only half-finished}, your powers don’t top out.

Actually if memory serves they do, just at a much higher level.

Hunter Hawk, I thought that the level requirements for force powers checked the total levels of your character, not just the Jedi levels. At least I seem to recall having the Force Immunity power the one time I finished the game, and that was a Level 8 Soldier/Level 12 Guardian. But it’s been a little while since I played either Kotor game; am I mistaken? EDITED TO ADD: I should point out that Force Immunity claims to be a “Character level 15” power according to the online game guides I’ve seen.

Just wanted to add that you don’t have to level up every time; you can save those level-ups for when you hit Jedihood and turn those into Jedi levels instead. I think the only time they force you to level is when you’re in the tutorial and level from 1 to 2. I managed to get all the way to Jedi while only leveling up once, IIRC. (Yes, that was rough, and I had to rely a lot on my sidekick, ranged attacks, and just plain trying to avoid getting hit.)

After two playthroughs as a male, it really skeeved me out to hear Carth Onasi call me gorgeous. Ewww! I didn’t even make it to the swoop race. :frowning: Was there anything good that I missed?

Are you kidding? I love Carth Onasi. And I loved that whole game…it is the only “futuristic” RPG I have ever loved that much.

If I remember correctly, Juhani also expresses an interest.

You can defeat anything on taris wiith no more than a level 4 character, even Bendak Starkiller (use shields and grenades), even with a Scout, which is the least efefctive in up-front combat (no AC bonuses, lousy armor).

I do have to disagree somewhat with the majority here: KoTOR is a fun game, but it’s not nearly as variable as I’d hoped on the second time around. You can go Dark Side, but the alternative quest endings are pretty obvious.
