Filthy product. Wouldn’t wipe my dog’s ass with them. The one in Reno is history, too.
Really? That’s news to me. Their ice-creams are very nice and not especially expensive, at least IMHO.
Prices here.
12 plain glazed doughnuts = $AU15.95.
12 assorted doughnuts = $AU21.95
$AU1.00 = 99c US at the moment.
All the Krispy Kremes pulled out of New England years ago. At its height they had one in the Prudential Center, and one not a mile from my house. But they failed, just the same. Dunkin’ Donuts, started in New England, wasn’t sad to see them go.
I still see them in Washington D.C. And for some reason the rest stops on the Connecticut Turnpike still sell them (not fresh, of course). I’ve seen them on the menu at the restaurant at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, too.
Well there’s the problem - they are meant to be used to wipe your dog’s ass and we stupid Aussies were eating them.
KK tried breaking into the New England market, where doughnuts are taken seriously, but failed and withdrew. Their product was sugary air, not the solid stuff produced by local favorite Dunkin’ Donuts. But what killed them was their crappy coffee - Dunkie’s delivers the goods, Krispy just didn’t.
It was fun to watch the machinery through the display window, but that thrill wore off after a few visits anyway.
I always hated that greasy coating that KK donuts left on my tongue. Bleah. Give me Dunkin Donuts any day.
The competition, however brief, did get Dunkie’s to use flat boxes for its doughnuts instead of the sloppy on-edge ones they used to think were so efficient. Give KK credit for that, at least.
Holy shit that’s a lot of money for some doughnuts.
BTW, suranyi, I just checked KK’s website, and it looks like there are three locations in the Bay Area, in Daly City, Union City, and Mountain View. Considering I’m in the North Bay, it’d be quite the trek for me.
They’re starting to open some new stores after having completely pulled out of Arizona. There’s one not too far away from me, quite near to where I buy my groceries.
I’ll admit I like KK very much but haven’t had any in awhile. Three of just about any kind, with a big glass of cold milk? Yum.
Oh, I know there are Krispy Kreme outlets in California. I live very close to the one in Union City. In fact my first message in this thread said:
But then in the same message I also said:
And someone said that wasn’t true, there are, or at least had been Dunkin Donuts in California. It’s that that I think is not true. I can not find any locations in California on Dunkin Donuts’ website, and I do not recall ever seeing one, even though I’ve lived in California for over thirty years.
