Kwame Kilpatrick was an embarrassment when he was a mayor of Detroit. He got tossed in jail and booted out for lying in court. He was having an affair with his aide on city time and city money and several other charges. He has to pay 1 million dollars to the court. He came in yesterday and asked the court to drop his monthly payment to 6 dollars a month. That is all he can afford. He has a job in Texas and makes 10 grand a month. But his huge home in a gated community, which is much bigger than the Manoogian Mansion the Detroit mayor lives in, his 2 Cadillac Escalades and private schools make it so all he can afford to pay is 6 bucks a month. This is like a kid killing his parents and asking the court for special treatment because he is an orphan. This guy has some nerve.
His charges included perjury and assaulting a police officer.

Well, they said no.
They cut it in half the day before. He has a lot of nerve.
Ain’t nobody really un’erstand the rich folk blues - ain’t got more’n one womaaaan 'sides the wiiife, ain’t got no more’n one millioooon dallaz, can’t catch a break and ah’m boooorn to loooose…yeaaah.
How do you suppose rich people stay rich? They never pay more than six dollars a month to anyone for anything. It’s called the rule of sixes. Look it up.
I’m not sure you can call him an embarrassment to Detroit. It is Detroit, after all. If anything, I’d say he was perfectly suited to administer the city.
I don’t know what they want from me. It’s like the more money we come across, the more problems we see.
I agree. He and Detroit deserved each other completely.
Now we have Dave Bing the former Piston basketball player as mayor. He owns a steel company and has had some success in the area. I hope he is different. He is like the mayor before Kwame, fairly quiet and intelligent. Detroit voters usually seem to like blustery, loud confrontational types. So he is different in that respect. Perhaps he is better in others, but the jury is still out. The city is ungovernable in many ways. No money, dirty and Detroiters are not so proud of their city. Tough job.
I’ll have to check my copy of Plutocracy for Dummies; off the top of my head I seem to recall that that’s rule number six.
Too bad they got a mayor already, I was going to suggest a real stand up guy for the job: Marion Barry.
