L.A. Cold/Spine OctDoper Fest -- The Aftermath

And the beautiful brunette was the wonderful Sapphire Bullet.

I’d say your eyesight is just fine, Joey. :)

It was Sapphire Bullet, but the shirt was dark blue with lighter blue print.

I’m not going to do a detailed minute by minute post because there are others that can & will do it better than I can, I’ll just post various thoughts and highlights:

First off – the appreciation portion of the post:

I’ve already thanked Shayna (who really went above and beyond!) and Jodi in my previous post, so —

Thank you to Strainger for booking (and initially paying for) our tickets to DTF. I won’t apologise for taking so long to get you a check because I think it’s your fault for being such a busy guy and not having dinner with me sooner than this month.

Thank you to Padeye for the rental car (you have to let me know what I owe you for my share) … sorry I sucked at navigating our way from the rental place. I’m also sorry for “making” you drink all you did on Friday night.

Thank you to Scotticher for being my roommate again. Did I manage to keep to myself while sleeping this time?

Thanks to Pricciar and Doobieous for being so kind as to put me up Friday night after a ahem mix up with my room. I promise to repeat nothing I overheard with my superior hearing. Not even the horrid things you said about Demo :stuck_out_tongue:

Speaking of Demo: Thanks to you and Psycat for the ego boost Friday  Psy, definitely keep up the hard work you’re doing at the gym – you look fabulous … so much so you’ve given me new motivation.

Thank you Sue Duhnym for lunch Saturday afternoon, I’m glad I decided to join you and Cyni. Your email address doesn’t lie – you’re an absolute doll!

Thanks to the cop that showed up on Friday night for not arresting us even after a bathrobe-clad WeirdDave elected himself as spokesperson for our group.

Last, but never least: Thank you to Mr. Cynical* for being one of my dearest friends. I’m so glad you showed up and we still need to settle on a city.

Mnem, you’ll be happy to note that I wasn’t the only person lamenting your not being present.

Rasa, we did whine and bitch that you weren’t there. I don’t think we managed every 5 minutes, but you were definitely missed.

As were you, Jack. Just ask Kyla … I told her I wished you could have made it.

Odie, Your mystic-like music knowledge was mentioned. Demo told someone, after they rattled off an answer to some music question, that they were “becoming another Odie:slight_smile:

There are so many people and so little time … I hope I don’t forget to mention anyone. I noticed this at SLO and it holds true here: there is never enough time at these things to get to talk to all the people you wish you would have.

I did get to talk to Pricciar more this time than at SLO. You’re good people, even if you do think I’m a freak for spelling my name correctly :stuck_out_tongue: You also have a gift for making people laugh.

I spent some talking with Doobieous about working out and got a few good tips that I’ll have to take with me to the gym next time.

I got to know Demo & Psycat some more. I already knew I liked them at SLO, but it was just reinforced in LA. Demo oozes coolness, and Psy is just lovely. I keep hoping if I am around them enough some of it will rub off on me.

Sapphy makes a wonderful pillow … I wish I had spoken more with her.

I got stalked by Johnny LA at the restaurant (woo! Go me! :D)

Thinksnow definitely has the legs for a kilt. And he’s a really nice man as well. It was nice seeing him again. Though I realise that your odds of seeing Thinksnow are very great if you’re attending a dopefest.

Had a great game of Hearts** with Katiekilldare, Woodstockbirdybird and Caldazar. Call us dull if you want for coming to a dopefest and playing cards, but at least for me it was great. I hadn’t played cards with “live” people in years. (btw – Katie’s absolutely beautiful, but even her beauty is eclipsed by that of Woody’s  )

Francesca is cute as a button. Even with bruises (I promise to say no more about that) It was a shock to find out they actually have tequila in England.

Wicky is quite the beauty as well, and an absolut wonderful person. We did get to have a few nice talks, but I wish we could have had more.

Sassy gave me (and Wicky) some great insight about being in our 30’s … even if it did depress me. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve got a lovely picture of our Techno JoeyHemlock crashed out on the bathroom floor in front of his toilet … blankets and all.

I loved all my talks with Scotti and all the Scottihugs[sup]tm[/sup]. She is simply one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to have as a friend.

I would have liked to talk to Shayna more and said more than “hello” to Spiny (and they are too adorable together, it’s enough to make a person diabetic  ).

I would have like to talked more with Diane as well. She seems like a really great person and she didn’t complain when I sent us out of the way when we drove her from the airport.

I didn’t talk to (or even met) Heloise, but I did sit sort of across from her at dinner on Saturday and she is Stunning. There’s no other word for it.

I’m sure I’m forgetting somebody or three, I’m sorry in advance, but I’m going to wrap this thing up for now. I’ll sum it up by saying I had a fabulous time.

*I think I need to start a campaign to get you to change your user name back

**We would have played Spades, but Katie thought we were making up rules so we didn’t. :stuck_out_tongue:

I am sad that we didn’t get to chat more. You are a great lady and I am sooooooo jealous of your beautiful hair!!

No problem about taking the long way to the hotel. I was too busy enjoying the company than to worry about street signs. I just thank you guys for meeting me and carting my ass around!

“High” and “Low” Jacks, I’m so sure. I’m on to you and your made-up voodoo rules.

Okay, since most everything’s been glossed over already, I’d like to extend a hearty and hale Screw You to all those dopers who saw it fit to take over my bed friday night, and then kick me out when I tried to hop in with them.

Thank you to those dopers who, upon my passing out on the floor of my room, saw fit to put me in bed WITHOUT either shaving my eyebrows, teabagging me, or reaming my anal WITH OR WITHOUT my consent.

Thank you to Shayna, for arranging the festivities, and being an indescribably gracious hostess.

Thank you to the owners of the liquor store next door, for having the foresight to set up shop so close to a motel.

More to come, I’m still fighting the eternal hangover.

Please note, this screw you is in jest. Had it been an actual SCREW YOU, I guess I would have pouted and told them to get out of my room.

A) Thanks for the quote, Java. So nice of you to remember.

B) It was Silver Fire who took off all of thinksnow’s clothes.

Okay, with that out of the way… I’m back in SF now and I just really want to go home. Or back to LA. But you guys won’t be in LA, so I’ll just go home. I should have packed Merc away in my carry on like I was going to. Oops.

I had fun. Duh.

Oh, and I own a new shirt now. Monster, is this yours?

Strainger’s Wacky Airport Adventure

I got to the airport Friday afternoon and was planning to meet up with Padeye and Mauvaise for our 5:00PM flight to LA. How simple my life would’ve been if that had happened, but it was not to be. As I was getting in line for the security check, I pulled out my wallet to show my driver’s license to the ID checker-guy, only to find that my driver’s license was not there. I went back to my truck to see if I could find it, but it wasn’t there either. I left a message on Padeye’s cell phone saying that I may not be able to make the trip, and proceeded to the Southwest Airlines ticket counter with my tale of sorrow.

At the counter, I learned that a Social Security card would work, and that they would put me on a later flight at no charge. After making plans for Padeye to pick me up at LAX. I went back to work to grab my Social Security card, and came back to the airport. I had also brought my security badge in case they needed to see a photo ID. I made it through all the check points, without having to show my badge, and hopped on the 7:30PM flight to LAX.

On the plane, I thought I was in the clear. Not so. A lady, to use the term very loosely, boarded the plane and sat between another passenger (at the window) and me (on the aisle). She then proceed to recite loudly, for all to hear, what appeared to be a line from a movie, “We, the jury, find [so and so] guilty as charged…” She then asked the girl at the window some stupid questions about her occupation and came to the conclusion that she worked for the government. She also somehow concluded that I work for the government. Then she started complaining that the overheads were still open, “Fuckin’ overheads are still open. Goddamn bitch needs to close the fuckin’ overheads. Why aren’t they closing the fuckin’ overheads?” In short, she was an obnoxious, psychotic, drunken bitch. I felt as if I’d been beamed into a bad sitcom and was being watched by a guy on the couch with a remote control. Not wanting to put up with an hour and a half of this crap, Window Girl and I got up and moved toward the rear of the cabin.

A few minutes later, the captain announced that there would be a slight delay while we took care of a “problem.” Shortly after the announcement, Crazy Bitch was escorted off the plane. The captain made a follow-up announcement that, especially now, there would be “zero-tolerance” for the behavior exhibited by Crazy Bitch. At that point, I wished I had thought to inform the flight attendants of her behavior instead of just moving. Imagine if she’d acted up even more once we reached 30,000 ft! A little lesson for Strainger should a similar situation arise in the future, God forbid.

I arrived at LAX safely, and went out front only to find out that there were no private vehicles allowed at the airport just yet. I was informed that I would have to take a bus to Lot C to be picked up. After a long ride in a bus crammed with passengers, luggage, chickens, and livestock, I arrived at Lot C, which could’ve been in Bogota for all I knew. I called Padeye, told him where I was, and proceeded to the Metro station next to Lot C to wait for him to pick me up. While I was waiting, an Asian lady who didn’t speak English very well pulled up in her car and asked me if I knew how to get to Hawaii. I considered asking how long she could hold her breath but refrained. Instead I informed her that I wasn’t from the area.

Eventually, Padeye showed up in the rental car. Thank you so much, Padeye, for making the extra trip to come get me. I know it really dug into your party time, although you sure made up for it later! We proceeded to our party room at the Days Inn only to find that we’d been kicked out and everyone was leaving.

At this point, I’ll take a break. This post is getting way too long. I’ll post on the rest of the weekend later.

Lying in never cool. Beautifully wicked? Intimidating? Me??

I had a great time, despite the limo ride from hell…and walking into that pole.

I am proud to say that I got felt up by more that one person…though Esprix laughed right in my face when I offered him a feel. I especially enjoyed getting my cleavage glittered by SeaDiver, the original hot babe.

I can’t say enough good things about the Dopers, every single one of you are great people. Special thanks go out to Shayna for all her hard work and hospitality. Also to Manservant Hecubus and nen who are directly responsibly for me having a good time.

Some thoughts:

thinksnow has awesome legs and good taste.

katiekilldare and Heloise have the two best heads of hair on the planet. I was very jealous. Adding boli, Shayna, SeaDiver, Kyla and Nym to the group gave me a complex.

Joey Hemlock is wonderful! Funny, good-looking, and from what I hear, a pretty good rapper.

silo is a suprisingly nice, mild-mannered kid. And cute too! I did NOT accomplish my goal of getting him to drop trou.

UncleBill looks HOT on a Harley! Woo!

Woodstock, the concert is November 19th at 7:30pm.

Tretiak, 1/12/02, 3/18/02 and 4/13/02.

More as the DTs subside…

When I grow up, I want to be Sue Dunhym.

Oh, do I.

This would be so much easier if I’d just make one big post…

Thanks to all the people (what was there, like four?) who came with me to Hollywood. I had a freakin’ BLAST. And Pink’s was great. Just had to say that.

I love SPOOFE.

Quix BLOOOOOWS. Twice. HARD. I have the biggest bruise in the history of bruises on my knee right now. And I was a cheerleader, dickhead. :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks to Scotti and beatle and everyone else for making a big fuss over me and getting me ice. It made it feel so much better.

I love Frannie.

I had a WILD weekend. I got the most amazing pictures of Joey on the beach (let’s hope they turn out). Mercutio is the sweetest person ever. EVER. And I do mean EVER. I love him!

I love Mercutio. (See?)

Monster rocks. Wicky rocks. Hotboxing in the bathroom rocks.

I was like, SO HIGH MAN!

I love you people.

Or, Sue Duhnym. Whichever.

[sub]Gods, and I didn’t even drink all weekend.

Bwahahahahaha! Strain, that’s hilarious!

Just in case there’s anyone who hasn’t heard my airport horror story, heck, I don’t mind telling it again. I had already boarded the plane at SFO when the captain announced that they were having security “issues” at LAX and we would not be allowed to take off. So we trooped off the plane, back to the gate, where we were shortly informed that the United terminal at LAX had issued a groundstop
on all planes while they emptied the terminal and did a security sweep. Apparently they had a bomb threat. Fortunately we were not delayed as much as I had feared; I was about an hour and a half late, missing minimal partying.

I have three regrets:

  1. That there were so many people there, it was impossible to get to know everyone.

  2. That I had to leave early or I would not have been able to get home that night.

  3. I did not get laid. :frowning:

Damn me! I knew I’d forget people … now I feel guilty:

Slackergirl, it was great seeing you again, I’m glad we got a chance to hang out a bit on Saturday night. I wish I lived closer to you, I feel I could learn a lot from you.

Edwardina: I hadn’t really interacted with you before this weekend, but you’ve said a couple things that inspired some deep thought on my part and I was looking forward to meeting you. You didn’t disappoint.

Would you mind sending them to me when you send them to Spoofe? mauvaise3@home.com. Thank you!

:o
(Diane isn’t anywhere near as scary as I thought she’d be. )

:o
(For anyone who is interested, Malkavia is a lovely, lovely girl, in any sense of the word you can think of. She just needs to stop smoking! :stuck_out_tongue: )
