We’ve been granted a whole hour early dismissal today. Whoop-de-flippin-doo. So I can get home an hour earlier to clean before the in-laws arrive. Yep, I put the Labor in Labor Day!
<sigh> Would someone kidnap me, please?
I am leaving early – at 2, to be exact. Then I have to rush home, grab my suitcase and pray that my Aunt isn’t more than 15mins late picking me up. Then it’s off to LA!
I did come in at 6 this morning though to make up for leaving at 2. Hmm, I guess I’m not such a slacker after all.
I was gonna take today off because Valkyrie and I had originally planned to head up to PA early to fetch the Tzeroling and celebrate her 8th up there. But as it turned out Valkyrie got called in to work for Saturday morning so we won’t be going until tomorrow.
I still woulda taken today off if I hadn’t done so last Friday and discovered that my meticulously plotted backup plans got shot all to hell, which left me playing catch-up this entire week. Ain’t doing that twice in a row!
But a four-day weekend… oh God, I’m getting tray-eyed just thinking about it.
I almost took a 5-day weekend. I was off yesterday because my back went out again and the only way I was able to make it in today was by being driven part of the way. If Angie didn’t have a 9:30 appointment, she would have drove me to the door. If she can’t pick me up this afternoon, I’ll have to leave an hour early in order to get the last bus that runs past our condo.
Well, it’s “early closing day” here, but here’s the catch: “workload permitting and with supervisor’s approval”, so guess what? I ain’t goin’ nowhere. And I’m working Saturday. But anyway, I’ll get 4 hours “administrative” pay anyway since I didn’t get to leave, and tomorrow’s all overtime. So I still get two days off, but I get 12 hours overtime pay, too! Happy Labor Day, everyone!

But of course the phones have been out all day, with only the sporadic “all-phones-in-the-office” ring to tell us the Sysadmin still doesn’t know what’s wrong.
God bless the Web proxy, still chugging away.
And me, not goin’ anywhere, not while they’ll pay me to fix old demo equipment and polish my coffee cup while the phones stay blessedly silent.
I was due to head home from a work trip at about 2:30 yesterday afternoon, which would have gotten me to my house around the usual time.
I finished up early, got to the airport around 11, went standby on an 11:30 direct flight, and made it. I was home by 2:30, and I wasn’t about to tell anyone at work.
