My sister turns 25 in less than two weeks, and she deserves something cool.
I saw a girl with a nice, about-to-be-a-trend bracelet at a recent rehearsal. She told me she bought it at a cart at a nearby mall, but also saw one like it at Macy’s.
Macy’s website has nothing like it, and even if the mall cart had a website, this girl never gave me the name.
Before I drive all the way to this mall on Monday (did I say it was nearby? I meant in Los Angeles terms), is there a way I could look at options and price it online? Is it really the next big thing? (I don’t care if it is, because I think it’s neat anyway).
The bracelet is made up of little squares, smaller than postage stamps. On the squares are little, full-color images of monuments – the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, the Great Pyramid. My friendgirl also said she saw one with all-L.A. landmarks.
Sound familiar? Seen one? Any help? Or am I driving to Glendale on Monday so I can shop at a damn cart?
Thanks in advance.

How should I react?
These things happen to other people…
They don’t happen at all, in fact.
I have two of these. They are available at the Macy’s in Albany, NY as well. They come with several different choices of pictures on them. I have one with a vintage travel theme (a gas station, Mount Rushmore, two different Rte 66 signs) and one with a 1940s theme (tiny photographs of people - a man in a fedora, a young woman, a soldier and his girl, a kid). Don’t have the tags anymore so don’t know the manufacturer’s name. They’re cute and not too horribly expensive.
Are these what you mean? I don’t know which stores sell them but maybe you could save yourself the trouble and just order from the website. Don’t know how long they take to ship though. It might take more than two weeks. That’s a great gift idea though!
Those are called Italian Charm bracelets.
You might try asking for them with that name.
Around the corner from me, there is an ‘upper scale’ hallmark store that sells them. The way they sell them is a ‘blank’ braclet and you buy the charms that you like.
I thought Italian charm bracelets were a different thing. What benson linked are what I have, although the two designs I wear aren’t listed (I found a few others I’d like, though). They were cheaper at Macy’s than on that website.
The Italian Bracelets - you get the charms individually - and they are interchangeable. It looks like ones from the OP just come premade, and prolly alot less expensive.
Call the mall to see if they have a Piercing Pagoda. It’s a division of Zales Jewelers. They seem to be in every mall I’ve ever been to. Their website has a catalog of all the charms they carry. Also a search by zip code.
I had no idea there were so many. But you gotta love the price, at least at 123Bracelets.com – I thought I was looking at $30 or $40.
Racinchikki mentioned seeing them at Macy’s, so I could either go there Monday or just order from 123Bracelets and rush-ship them. Precision isn’t important; my family feels that receiving gifts before and/or after your birthday just stretches out the celebration.
And if these bracelets weren’t trendy before, we may have started a trend for them right here on the SDMB!
Well, irishgirl, you must have friends you can trust right here on the SDMB. Have one of them get you what you want and send it to you, if you can’t get it any other way. You might wind up spending more for postage, but if it’s for what you really want, rather than what you’d settle for, maybe it’s worth it. Ask someone.
