Ladies, what level of muscularity is just right in a man?

In a previous thread, various women stated that they don’t like men who are overly muscular. I asked if people could be more specific about what level of muscularity is just right.

Nobody replied to my question, so I thought I’d restate it. Which of these guys would you consider to be too muscular to be attractive? Which, if any, are just right?

I’m afraid it just isn’t that cut and dried. There are too many other factors.

Different woman, different preferences. You may as well start a thread asking what the ideal cupsize is (what the hell, male OR female).

Speaking for myself, I like it when you see a guy who doesn’t seem to be muscular, but then he takes off his shirt and mmmm…
I give you: Skeet Ulrich - this pic’s from “The Newton Boys” and he’s the one on the right. No pretentious musculature there, but in a tank top, the guy is sex on legs.

Sadly, no photos of him shirtless (damn!), but you can see he’s not straining the fabric of the shirt though.

Perhaps if you were to link to photos showing the bods in question it’d make it easier? I took a minute to look up the IMDB for Jean-Claude Van Damme, but no dice on shirtless pix there, and I coudn’t find the enthusiasm to go hunting.

I’m with BWP, I like my men to be muscular enough that you can see it when topless, but it’s not apparent when they’re fully clothed. I’m especially attacted to thin men, but I like fit-thin men–I find the stereotypical computer programmer types to be off-putting.

Gael Garcia Bernal in La Mala Educación.
The bits by the pool and doing press ups.
Not built, just defined.

Enough to hold all that fat upright?

Here’s a thread I recently started asking the same question.

I dated a body-builder in college. He wasn’t actively working out at the time, but he’d show me all sorts of pictures of what he did look like in the past and what he wanted to look like when he got back in training. The pictures were a total turn-off. The overly developed male body he was trying to attain was just not attractive. I like a man to look like he uses his muscles for good, not vanity.

Which is exactly why I’m asking multiple women, as opposed to just one.
Even a range of answers can be useful and helpful, y’know.

How about…enough so that he can sweep you off your feet, but not so much that he spends all day looking in the mirror.

Depends on the guy. And I don’t care how muscular he is, I don’t want him sweeping me off my feet. For some reason it’s a surefire way to piss me off (I think it triggers my antirape defenses).

I have a male cousin with a 46" chest. If he wasn’t muscular he’d just look weird! But his skinny, narrow-all-over brother with the 28" chest would look like an alien if he had big biceps.

Would you please post some pictures for us to choose from?

Of the list of guys you posted, I’m going to say Brad Pitt. Fit is good, while overly-muscled is just more interesting to men than to women.

I’ll do my best.

Nice!!!

I don’t think muscles=masculinity. I like a guy to be well built, whether it be tall and skinny or shorter and stockier like my fiance. I love broad shoulders and nice arms and chest. I also like chest hair and a nice little happy trail. I don’t like a guy who spends more time in the mirror than I do, or a guy who is wimpy.

For me, a guy can’t really be “too masculine.” But, a guy who is arrogant and macho doesn’t do it for me. I don’t think those things equal masculine either.

It’s kind of hard to say, really. Each guy is different, and each woman has her own tastes as to what she likes. Big bodybuilder muscles don’t do it for me, but I do like my man to stay in good shape and take pride in his appearance.

Okay, based off those photos ('cept Matt LeBlanc, 'cos that one doesn’t work) I’d place a tick by David Chokachi (never heard of him before), Brad Pitt and Dean Cain.

What’s probably going to be a bit of a kicker though is that I’ve never found Brad Pitt attractive in terms of general ‘good looks’… and while Dean’s kinda cute when he smiles he’s not doing it for me either. David, while he’s got an awfully nice bod, has an extremely generic US Actor look, like he’s just got off a conveyor belt from Hollywood. Not exciting at all.

Based on just their bodies with nothing else though - yep, they’re nice! Still, I’ll stick with Skeet, thanks

Wish I could find you a shirtless pic from his time in Miracles.

Based on those pictures:

Jean Claude Van Damme: Too muscular. Also, not liking that longer hair he had in one of the pictures

Nick Lachey: Also too muscular.

Tyson Beckford: Little too much.

L.L. Cool J.: Ewwww

Brad Pitt: The muscularity level works, but just in general I think there are much hotter guys out there (not a huge Brad Pitt fan)

David Chokachi: Can we get just a little bit of bodyfat here? Please?

Nicholas Brendon: Yum
Interestingly enough, I’m realizing that I’m doing alot of my muscular judgements based on arms.

Yeah, mine’s based on arms too. Guess the guys have been concentrating their efforts in the wrong direction, eh?

Okay, what about Kevin Sorbo?
