Just caught this movie Ladybug, Ladybug on TV yesterday.
Anyone seen this? No big stars in it outside of the guy who would later play Higgins on Magnum PI.
Essentially, it takes place at an elementary school in the early sixties where an alarm is sounded signalling an imminent nuclear attack. The faculty are unable to verify whether or not the alarm is false and have to take action accordingly.
A bit heavy handed but hauntingly memorable. Kind of like Dr Strangelove meets Lord of the Flies. Great acting by a mostly child cast. Nice cinematography and an ending I can’t stop thinking about.
It’s crazy that this simple little picture had me glued to the set for the full 82 minutes, whereas the multi-jillion dollar Hulk, which I saw later that day, was a total bore in comparison.
Interesting that school children walking down dirt roads can be made more riveting than a green giant heaving tanks over mountains.
