The heater core in my 1998 Mercury Sable car went out yesterday, and rather than pay for the repair, I brought home this, my newer (white),2002 Mercury Sable car. Yay for me!

Nice car. I hope you’ll have many years of happy driving in it!
Coming or going? I can’t decide…
Strange.
From here.
So, may I ask what made you change your mind?
Why did you bring that up? That’s not necessary.
Glad things worked out for you, Ladyrose.
Cuz I have done the same thing…
Strictly speaking, no. I’m just curious as to the turnaround of opinion of the rules here.
And since my lack of snarkiness in my first post wasn’t enough, I’m not judging anything or anyone here. It just seems an honest question.
Not necessary?
Ladyrose is the one who wasted the hamsters time with her effluvient “I’m leaving, and you can’t stop me” post.
Now, she has a new car and all is right with the world?
We deserve something by way of explanation.
I always thought that Mercury Sables were nice cars. My dad almost bought one back in 1996.
I for one am always happy to see a newbie (sorry) “get it” and stick around our strange and beautiful community.
I trust the OP was an original?
All is forgiven.
Congratulations on the pretty car!! Hope it works out well for you.
If you feel you need an explination, I think you should either start a thread about that yourself and not bring it (any further) into this one, or e-mail her and ask.
Has she managed to post in a thread she hasn’t started herself yet?
Who’s got a spare lj code?
Damn.
I wish I could afford to simply buy a new car every time a car of mine needed a relatively minor repair. (I suppose I could for awhile, but it wouldn’t last.)
I mean, I don’t get it. A five year old car is not a very old car, these days. If the heater core is the only thing wrong with it, sure, it may cost you several hundred dollars to fix it, but the car’s gotta be just about paid off by now, so you’re just about to that state of bliss where you’ve got a good car, but no car payments.
And if the car is buggy, or starting to feel its age, why would you buy a newer version of the same car?? That would be frickin’ crazy.
But if I’m your car dealer, I love you, either way.
I like pie.
Me too. What kind is best?
Pumpkin pie, definitely.
The reason I traded, was because the other one was not as big and a bit more sporty than what I needed for my line of work, I drive for a living and I wanted comfort in my car.
I stay here because I like the people here(well, most of them),and I love reading things here on the boards.
I will just make sure that I am more careful as to what I post, when I do.
I want to fit in, NOT make enemies here.
Nice car! I am a huge fan of Taurus/Sable. And 2002 was a good year, enjoy it!
Sometimes, a couple day’s break is all you need to clear your head, develop a thicker skin, change your perception, whatever. Many people have had meltdowns in the past and were smart enough to stay away for a few days and come back refreshed. Don’t dwell on the past, learn from your mistakes, and enjoy your stay.
I’ve never been a fan of Ford products, but Mercurys are sharp looking cars, and from what I’ve heard, live for quite a while, even if the maintenence schedule isn’t perfect. That’s not to say you can go forever w/o changing your oil or anything, but I get the impression that they are pretty stout cars. Good luck with it.
