You misunderstand… gay FEMALE teenagers are popular and in and fashionable and, at worst, an adorable curiosity. (I mean, as long as they still adhere to all the societally acceptable standards of female appearance.)

I hate to seem as clueless as I am on this subject, but what “rumor swirl”? His fame is behind him. Was the rumor of his sexuality closing doors?
Does anyone in the entertainment industry even CARE about a person’s sexuality? I can see hiding it from the world when he was a member of a “boy band”, created to make junior high school girls swoon, but what’s the problem now?
Next thing you know, I’ll be hearing that Danny Pintauro of “Who’s The Boss?” fame is gay.

Yeah, but it was hardly a burning issue. In fact, I don’t even remember hearing many rumors about. A part of me still thinks it’s a little bit of a publicity stunt. I’m not suggesting he’s not gay, it’s only that it’s… been a quite while since he was in the news. Just sayin’.
I wish Anderson Cooper would come out of the closet already. I’m going to be so crushed if it turns out that he really is heterosexual.

But that’s the point. It was in the news. Here’s the story I came across on the internet a couple of weeks ago. Why was it being reported? I have no idea. But somebody thought it was newsworthy.
I’d guess that Mr. Bass wasn’t talking about it because - like you - he didn’t think anyone would care. But now that the story was out there and other people were in control of the story, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Considering how the media loves to play “kick the clelbrity” I can’t say that I blame him.
