In my experience, that basically never happens. I knew a couple of girls who helped with the recruiting at my school, and that aspect of it was entirely overblown.

There’s a hell of a lot more to it than just the BCS schools. Most college football does not involve all that crap. Check it out sometime - is there a 1-AA school near you? You can get all the hoopla, all the pageantry, all the tailgating, all the fun, the football is pretty good, and the big money and all the bullshit it involves is absent. I love it. You can have the BCS and the rest of 1-A if you want - If I want to watch pro football, I’ll watch the NFL and see better games anyway.

Word is that Duke’s Cutcliffe has been tapped to be new HC at UT. Seriously, that’s the best this premier SEC football school could do? I realize he was a fomer asst. under Fulmer and knows the school, but it’s not like he was shooting lights out at Duke. I would still not be happy if I was a UT fan.
I long ago gave up looking at college coaches as anything but self serving opportunists. There is too much money in the game and the coaches make too much to stay clean.
Mich. State just brought back 7 players who were arrested for assault and battery. This, before the trials which are coming up soon. I am sure the coach will talk about second chances, but it is about them helping the team win games.
Kiffin has asked some recruits he was getting at Tenn. to follow him to USC. That is not allowed.
I have to declare this “teh win”.

I posted this in the other thread, but it looks like Cutcliffe may have turned down UT.
So other than the ‘Girls Gone Wild’ levels of shame and humiliation for thier families and fumbling highschooler sex, what exactly are these girls getting out of this?
Rumor has it Cutcliffe wanted to hire his own staff, UT told him he must keep some of the existing coaches. Also UT fans were upset , they wanted a bigger name than Cutcliffe.
A winning football program. What could be more important?
Which still leaves the question of what the hostesses at UT were getting.
