Las Pulgas Road, and other bizarre street names

In the Santa Clarita Valley area I’ve seen:

A Street (the letter A is the name of the street)
The Old Road

Inventive, those.

Downtown L.A., in the oldest section, has a street called “New High Street”. If you’re unfamiliar with the UK custom of street naming where a High Street is more or less the Commercial, or Main, Street, it sounds rather odd. Too bad New High Street wasn’t a nexus of the hippie phenomenon of the Sixties. It would have been appropriate.

Big Beaver
Lois Lane in Detroit area.

The UK has four New High Streets, plus a dozen or so each of Upper High Street and Lower High Street…

The ads were predicting that I would be posting this:

“This tenement lay in Cheapside between Gropecunt Lane to the W., 105/1-3 to the E., and St. Pancras church to the S.”

My in-laws live on Sodom Lane, the name of which has long amused me.

Does it intersect with Gomorrah Drive?
