Last night's Futurama was a winner (spoilers)

I have to say I didn’t much like last week’s Futurama, the one where Bender gets himself elected Pharoah.

However, last night’s episode was great, even if it had a vaguely similar plot line. Trust Groening to explore the touchy subject of God and religion and still manage to keep it funny and accessible.

I loved Bender’s one commandment: “God Needs Booze” – and make it a double! hehehehehe! And “You can’t rely on God for squat! He told me so himself!”

I loved it too. It definitely had an interesting take on God. When Bender tried helping his worshippers, it made things worse, when he tried to leave them alone, it made things worse again. Then God tells him that if he does something right, people won’t be sure that he did anything at all. Interesting stuff.

Plus the whole episode was funny as hell anyway.

I thought last night’s episode was too Meaningful . . . I preferred last week’s. I am still giggling over the line, "We learned much from your ancient Egyptians: how to build pyramids, how to fly spaceships, how to bury our dead so as to frighten Abbott and Costello . . . "

All three in the line up last night (Futurama, King of the Hill, and Simpsons) were dealing with political/religious themes. It was almost creepy. Funny, but creepy.

The best part of that line:"We learned much from your ancient Egyptians: how to build pyramids, how to fly spaceships, how to bury our dead so as to frighten Abbott and Costello . . . "
Was Fry’s follow up: “heh heh heh…Wolfman.”

I haven’t seen Futurama in a while, and I thought this week’s episode was great.

“First I was God for a while, then I met God!”
