Some of us Las Vegas Dopers are organizing a quick event scheduled for the weekend of July 11, 2008 – just a few weeks from now.

As this follows the weekend after the 4th of July, celebrating our independence from England, we thought we would show there are no hard feelings and have a British theme for this year’s event. Another reason for the British theme is that one of our esteemed British Dopers, glee, will be returning to Las Vegas and we thought it might be fun to gather round and watch a Brit melt in the Nevada July sun. Sort of a Burning Man/Guy Fawkes event.

Tentative shedyule (as the British pronounce it) is:

A Friday Night Royal (Flush) meet and greet.

Perhaps a Prince Chuckwagon BBQ with big ears (of corn) on Saturday afternoon/early evening.

Also, if there is interest, an elegant Hyacinth Bucket Buffet on Sunday.

Just in case some of you might want to get totally into the spirit - you could stay at the Four Queens downtown where the current on-line rate is $79 per night for weekends. You might even be able to find cheaper accommodations, as July is traditionally a slow month and mid-week rates start at $29, but weekends are a bit more. (If you want to defray costs, considering prostitution is legal in Nevada, let us know what you would charge by the hour and we’ll check into a temporary work permit for you in Pahrump.)

So, if you would like to join us (DMark, Kurilla, LVGeogeek, MadPansy64, Giant Freakin’ Marine, and others) here in Las Vegas over the weekend of July 11, 12 and 13th, let us know!

Yes, we know this is kind of short notice, but if you think you can make it to Las Vegas that weekend, tell us which of the 3 events you might be interested/able to attend!

May I say that you chaps were quite right to insist on representation for taxation, and that we have completely forgotten the events of yesteryear (apart from bl**dy Braveheart :smack: )

As for the heat - as long as your air-conditioning lasts, I’ll be fine. :slight_smile:

Also Hyacinth Bucket is pronounced ‘Hyacinth Bouquet’, as per the comedy TV series…

  • what is the point of cricket?

  • why you should not wear pants on the outside, nor call yourself Randy…

And LVgeogeek, Friday and Saturday will be cool - we might need you to give some people rides, so will get back to you!

Due to all hell breaking loose, which is leading to us suddenly taking up residence in a handbasket, GiantFreakinMarine and I are not going to make it this year. :frowning:

I’m going to have to miss this one. Sorry, people, but between schedule pressures and saving leave for repaying debts to the London Dopers, I can’t take the time right now. (Our delivery target is mid-August, and if it slips by even one week, the whole project schedule suffers a 2 or 3 month delay. No pressure!)
