Lateral Thinking Puzzles. Let's do it again!

First let me say that this is a very entertaining thread!

Now I don’t want to spoil everybody’s fun but, what Pheidippides said before dropping dead was not Victory but We Won/ We were victorious (Nenikikamen).

Did Kevin’s statement include the word “naked”?
Did Kevin’s statement include the word “desire”?

No. Those words are not spoken.

How did his naked desire embarrass Kevin?

Is Kevin an American?

An entrepreneur?
Is it relevant whether Kevin has hair?

reoly to Personal:

Is Kevin an American? Yes
Canadian? No
An entrepreneur? No
Is it relevant whether Kevin has hair? No

Yeah, I noticed that when I looked it up on Wikipedia. OTOH, remember this was passed down as oral history for a few hundred years, so there’s plenty of opportunity for someone to polish up his language and make it nice and grammatical, and to fit the terms of the OP he just has to have the word ‘Nike’ *somewhere *in what he said before he keeled over. So I defend the question-giver! (also, it was fun ;))

Not participating at the moment because I did the same dumb thing as Folly before I saw his post. See you all in … umm… an amount of time

I dunno, if I’m exhausted to death and panting out one last word before I collapse, I’m going to make it two syllables, not five.

I’m trying to put together everything and my Q from doing that is:

Did Kevin lose a bunch of money because of the phrase “naked desire”?

But, he neither said that nor was he supposed to. Nor did he say anything similar to it.

**Did he mispronounce the phrase? **

Okay, folks, this might be a key question. We’ve established that Kevin was speaking to an audience of people he didn’t know very well, but he wasn’t an entertainer or a politician. Who else might speak to an audience? Post any suggestions.

Was it some sort of public service announcement?

Was it the speech delivered to a live audience? On TV? On radio? In a movie?

Was Kevin giving a speech?

Was listening to Kevin speak the reason for the audience’s presence?

If that’s yes and no, respectively, then I think he might have been a graduation speaker. Though that still doesn’t say why he was there, or what the embarrassment was.
