I’ve seen places that will do all your laundry (dry clean and regular wash) for you. I’ve also seen coin-op laundromats that have a dry cleaning machine that people can operate themselves.
I don’t think I’ve seen a place that combined some do-it-yourself machines with a regular dry-cleaning service, though.
Well, I have seen one. It is actually a couple blocks from my house (Dinsmore Cleaners in NE Minneapolis) the name could be wrong… but they have the dry cleaning as a ‘room’ of the laundromat.
Oh boy I miss the Chinese Laundry right down the street from my old place in San Francisco. Just throw all my laundry in the middle of my sheets, bundle it all up, drop it off, and later that afternoon I get back freshly folded laundry in tightly wrapped paper bundles. And best of all, if you had special handling for some precious items (like my Versace shirts) they actually took special care.
But the king of all wash was the dry cleaner in LA on Sunset near Laurel Canyon. They also did wash by the pound, like the Chinese laundry, but their clientele was mostly hollywood actor & actress types, with eccentric laundry desires. I saw one of their receipts for washing jeans, it had check boxes for at least 6 ways of landering jeans (folded, rolled, on hangers, creased, etc). For some hard-to-wash things, they were the only place I trusted. I mostly remember them because they had a fire and a friend of mine had ALL his laundry in the cleaners when it burned to the ground, and he had nothing to wear at all.
