So “Arthur Branch” refused Jack McCoy’s resignation saying to the effect that the DA’s position will be open some day. Was this a indication of FD Thompson perhaps running for POTUS?? Hummmmm?
Well if Thompson does run (has he annouced yet? 
) there’s no way NBC will let him stay on the show. However McCoy becoming DA is just weird. He’s a senior civil servant, not a politician.
In the local paper the other day an NBC exec was quoted as saying Thompson almost certainly will not be back next season, whether he runs for president or not.
McCoy will take the DA’s job only if the actor who plays him (once again, I can’t recall a name I should know) is wanting seriously to reduce his work load.
