Why NBC why? Especially when it’s on the cusp of setting a record for longest-running drama. And doubly especially when they’re going to renew the more-or-less crap that is SVU and they plan to start a new version set in LA.
NOOOOOOOO.
It can’t be cancelled.
I grew up with this show!
Plus, it’s the only thing to watch when nothing else is on!
It’s amazing!
This is aweful news.
Looks like it’s the truth
NBC confirms Law & Order has been cancelled
Don’t worry - Jack McCoy’s eyebrows will save them! They’ll fly the whole show over to TNT.
I heard TNT is why they’re cancelling it, Turner won’t renew the syndication contract.
One of my favorites, ever. It shaped my Wednesday nights. When they moved it to Friday’s and then back I couldn’t ever remember when to look for it.
I may never watch another repeat if they kill Lt Anita Van Buren.
Why do the good ones always die so young?
I guess this doesn’t matter much to me because I only watch the reruns for the Lennie Briscoe quips, but this still kind of sucks. Law & Order is a New York institution (and so is having ‘no parking here because of L&O taping’ stickers on your street). I thought it was written into the city bylaws somewhere that the show couldn’t be canceled until everyone in New York had appeared on the show.
Man, I was just thinking yesterday how L&O is the one cop show that I watch (and I watch a lot of them!) that never gets old, and I look forward to every week. And how great it was that they do a lot of “ripped from the headlines” plots so they won’t ever run out of material.
Dammit
A travesty. I’ve been watching this show for it’s entire 20 year run. I don’t even know what to say…
This is a travesty, it was actually getting pretty good again.
Since this is now confirmed, I’m taking the word “possibly” out of the thread title.
Re: Ripped from the Headlines
I am surprised that didn’t do something with the Tiger Woods saga. Maybe that is SVU territory. Athletes: Sex/Prescription Drugs addiction (ambien, vicoden).
They need to give one extra show. IN which for the 5000th time in L&O history there is a courthouse shooting. This time it is George Dzundza and he takes otu the entire current cast (except Van Buren who died in the previous episode).
Is that in the works? Did she get shot or something? It would be a real FU if she dies at the end of the series, imho.
She had cancer of some sort and was going through chemotherapy.
She has cancer and her treatment has been a recurring theme during this season.
What is *wrong *with NBC!? Why must they cancel the one good hour-long drama they have left?
As much as I’ve adored the show over the years, I have to admit that I’m more disappointed that it won’t have the chance to break the Gunsmoke record than I am about it not being on the schedule anymore. From what I’ve read, Dick Wolf could have broken the record if he had agreed to a curtailed season – six to 10 episodes – but that seems like a pitiful way for this juggernaut to end.
Might as well go the whole hog.
Too bad about the show. I go through phases where I watch it constantly then don’t watch any of them at all. I kind of like it that way because the unseen episodes pile up.
Your OP is full of lies!
SVU is not “more or less” crap. It’s simply crap.
