I know how most of the characters left the show, but I haven’t seen how Mike Logan came to leave-I tried episode guides on the internet, etc. but can’t find anything- (I did find some, um, very in depth fan sites though) (No, not that!! lol). I KNOW someone here will be able to help since this IS TSD!
Ooohh… drats. I can’t remember exactly.
He violated some rule and was either fired or quit. I think he slugged a perp.
Logan punched a gay-bashing councilman in the face in his last appearance. I think that is why he got fired or whatever.
All this from www.aande.com
He wasn’t fired- he was transferred, and appeared in the Law and Order movie (last year, IIRC). They teased him mercilessly, as he was transferred out to suburbia and was bored as hell.
IIRC, he was demoted to becoming a beat cop on Staten Island after he punched the councilman.
bobkitty and Protesilaus are correct. Chris Noth was written out of L&O in 1995 by producer Dick Wolf. The episode they describe, “Pride,” aired 5/24/95.
From this A & E site:
http://www.aande.com/tv/shows/laworder/bios/bio_actor_noth.html
You’ll also get the following information:
“…he did convince Wolf to produce a TV movie spin-off entitled Exiled (1998), starring Noth and several other Law & Order cast members, to wrap up the story of Mike Logan, which Noth felt had been prematurely extinguished on the show.”
Thank you all
And you can skip the movie too. It was not very exciting.
The new ADA seems to be the first main character who was come on to the show without any backstory or explanation.
Poof, she’s there.
And, man is she less than scintillating.
She’s terrible. Her bad acting SUCKS the life out of the show. And why the hell does she wear all those white suit coats? She looks like a blackjack dealer. It also doesn’t help that she looks exactly like the new blonde cast member from NYPD Blue - I keep forgetting which show I’m watching.
Yeah, the movie was awful. I didn’t mind when they got rid of Logan, but I’m still pissed that Stone was fired/quit/whatever happend, he was fantastic, although I’m thankful that his replacement is pretty good. And getting rid of Adam was absolute sacrilige, the new DA is not nearly as entertaining.
They didn’t get rid of Adam, the actor quit.
Ben Stone quit because he browbeat a witness (Allison Janney, later to star on “West Wing”) to testify in a mob trial, promising her protection, but even as the police were moving her out of her apartment, she was murdered, so he felt really guilty.
I heartily agree that Elizabeth Rohm and Dianne West are deadweight and should be replaced ASAP.
In the meantime, that shot in the opening theme where you have the four junior characters walking down a hallway is really obnoxious. I can picture Dick Wolf saying “Okay, ACTION, you’re walking, you’re walking, pretend that you’re talking to each other, smile and… CUT!”
Bring back Angie “Hang 'em High” Harmon!
I didn’t know that, thanks for the heads up.
I’m pretty sure the actor who played Stone quit, as well. Something to do with Janet Reno and the v-chip, if I remember correctly.
Well, yeah, Reno is why Michael Moriarty quit. But when you said “Stone,” I assumed you wanted to know the storyline that resulted in Ben Stone leaving.
