laws and disaster type situations

Reading the thread with North Carolina and the hurricane, with respect to transporting of firearms made me curious.

So your local jurisdiction just got whacked with fill in the blank disaster, be it earth quake, hurricane, or something mundane like a really big flu outbreak that causes a blip in the normal every day going about your business.

What laws do you realistically expect to go out the window in terms of enforcement. Now i would think the majors are still gonna have you being arrested no matter what, but are they really gonna give a person grief over smoking in a non smoking enviroment.

Declan

During the Rodney King riots, LAPD ignored the laws against brandishing a weapon if you were a businessman. You could see the effects as the news camera panned down a street: burned-out business, burned-out business, Koreans with guns, burned-out business…

Disarming law-abiding citizens during a state of emergency or disaster makes no sense. If anything, citizens have *more *of a reason to be armed during such an event.

At any rate, I will quietly ignore any and all laws that strip away my ability to protect me and my family from harm.

I agree that protection of your person and home is paramount. Also, depending on the length of the disaster, I would expect things like hunting and fishing licenses to go away.

The process of getting a building permit might change.

Envriomemtal regulations might be waived.

Endangered species, what endangered species?

What did they do in South Manhattan during the days after 9-11? Was anything done around the Pentegon?

Freedom of movement was restricted - only residents were allowed south of 14th St., and no-one was allowed south of Canal.
