Hard work pay off over the course of a lifetime. But laziness pays off immediately.
Choose wisely.

Can’t be bothered to think too hard about it.
They all seem to go together to me. They also all describe me.
(Except the tardiness – I like to be early. Is that the answer?)
I heard that all the time growing up, but I’m not sure how true it is. Sometimes I sit for a whole day and do nothing. I take more breaks than the average person when I’m doing an arduous task. I procrastinate. But I also worked full time as a high school student and 60 hours a week as a grad student, have always gone above and beyond what was expected in academics and enjoy a good challenge. People now tell me that I’m not lazy, when I don’t feel like doing anything it’s just depression, but I think either way the point is moot. "Lazy’’ is nothing but a value-judgment latent word that is basically meaningless except to make other people feel better about themselves.
I once filled out a questionnaire about what sorts of things I would need to do to make myself happier. Sample things were Get a Promotion, Work Out Every Day, Go on Yearly Vacations, Eat More Healthfully, etc. Then I was asked to rate each thing on a scale of 1 to 10 in its importance to me. Get a Giant Plasma TV rated a mere 2, while Live in a Spotless Apartment rated a 9.
How much happier would I be if my place were clean? Like, lots lots happier.
But I can’t be arsed to clean.
Now THAT’s lazy!
It’s nice to see a kindred fellow traveler (ie except for tardiness). Actually I don’t know the answer either; I just threw it in there as an example and to see how/whether Dopers might answer. Of course I have all those conditions. ![]()
