I was in Guyana (South America) last week and bought a couple of very old bottles in the market that were recovered from the Demerrara River (huuuuge river) by scuba divers. One has Dutch writing on it, so it’s probably over 200 years old. The other one is a bottle with raised lettering down the side “LEA&PERRINS” and around the sides “WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE.” I looked at the history section of their website and it said that they started making it around 1837 but I didn’t see any pictures of the old bottles. Anybody know how I’d find out?
