legal age to move out in Texas

I am crossing my fingers that there is a lawyer who is familiar with the laws in Texas who can tell me what the legal age is to move out of one’s parents house. I asked a few cops and they all told me 17, but I also heard (from an unreliable source) that through legal action by the parents the age can be made higher or that it might just plain be 18. Someone please help, what is the legal age to move out of one’s parents house in Texas and is there any way for the parents to take legal action and force one to stay longer? (and no, I am not asking for me, I enjoy having free room, board, and food in my parent’s house ;))

So, Kevin, is she cute?
Most states have ‘emancipated minor’ laws, but I don’t know much about the details. One does have to go to court, though.
Don’t listen to me. Wait for someone who know’s what they’re talking about.
And welcome!
Peace,
mangeorge

Allow me to introduce you to the Texas Family Code, Chapter 31. According to section 31.001:

Whether it is a wise idea to do so is, of course, an entirely different question.
