Can you?? They like insta-kill even my Wolf Link who has like 20 hearts. I mostly run away crying when I see them.
There’s a raft outside the island with some sort of timer puzzle?? Fat lot of good it did me on getting TO the shrine  I’m more upset I spent all that time and got nothing for it.
That’s where I’m at. There’s also a raft to get there, but I’m not sure if where you started, that that raft if attainable. I found the same shrine in a different location/starting point, and thought to use the ice to get there…
I have one “ancient arrow” but I’m not sure where to get more. I haven’t used it yet but somewhere along the line I heard they can bring down Guardians with a single shot to the eye. I’d imagine the only way to get a clean shot at one would be to paraglide over one and do the slo-mo arrow shot.
That’s a lot of rupees. The only thing I’ve spent money on is heat and cold armor since it was an investment you could always use versues messing around with food and elixers with timers. The shops seem to offer pants/jacket/hat but from what I’ve found buying two of the three items was enough to protect you from the most extreme hot or cold.
I’m currently battling my 4th divine beast boss. The nice thing about the boss battles is that if you fail at them your inventory of weapons and food is reset to where it was.
I haven’t found any new armor but heard there is a lab located somewhere in the far upper right territory where they build and upgrade armor for you but require you to give them ancient robot parts and gems. I may have to explore that area again.
I think rupees are best spent on armor and arrows. Everything else can be found and cooked. Armor can be upgraded by the great fairies. And most sets of upgraded armor give an extra bonus when wearing all 3. So if you upgrade the fireproof armor it will make you invulnerable to fire attacks completely.
I defeated all Divine Beasts. Now I’m just running around and exploring. It’s crazy how little of the world you need to explore if you just follow the main questline. There’s a stable right by the Great Plateau that I never even saw because I never went that way. I still have two towers left to do.
Regarding the test of strength shrines, you only need to activate a shrine to make it a travel point, not beat it. So it’s easy to get back to once your strong.
I have 13 hearts and even the moderate test of strength shrines beat me down. I haven’t even attempted a major test.
I actually survived about 3 minutes lol it was a lot of running away and dropping bombs. Freaking thing was smart though. If I dropped a bomb and ran, it used its laser beam on the bomb, blowing it (and me) up.
The test of strength shrines are actually pretty easy, mechanically, once you spend a little time with them. It’s not-super-hard to do even a Major Test without getting hit once you’ve got the pattern, so I could see saying that armor isn’t very important for them.
… the real problem is that they have 3K freaking HP. A couple of attack up buffs (either from food or the armor pieces) are really, really helpful for both getting through the fight in a reasonable amount of time, and doing so without wrecking your entire arsenal.
(I haven’t actually posted my thoughts in this thread before, but: I love this game, but hate hate hate hate HATE that it’s built largely around consumables and breakables. It turns it from something Basically Perfect into something that’s really awesome but way too psychologically frustrating. Even if it’s they’re reasonably generous with the weapons, it drives me freaking nuts.)
re: the Ancient Lab that Hampshire mentioned:
It’s in the far upper right corner of the map. Bring lots of ancient components and rupees. There’s ancient everything to craft/buy: arrows, weapons of each type, and armor. I can’t really afford enough of the good stuff to evaluate it for you.
Well I’ve been playing for a while now, so I decided to pop in to the thread. I’ve barely scratched the surface of the game, it feels like, so if I wait until I finish it nobody else will still be playing
There is a raft somewhere on the beach that you can use to reach the shrine. Maybe it’s near the little output of enemies on the beach; I’m not sure. At least now that you’ve reached the shrine you can fast-travel there later, so it’s not a total waste of time.
To start off I wasn’t really liking that the weapons are breakable, and the inventory space so limited. But I’m coming around on it a bit. It does force me to try out lots of different stuff, where my normal style of play is to pick something I seem to like and just stick with it. It’s interesting to have so many things to consider, in terms of the attributes you want your gear to have. Although, there are times where I want to just go run around and fight without worrying about any of that.
I like the breakable weapons, I just wish it was more clear how durable items were. I hate picking up a great weapon only to find out it breaks after two hits (looking at you demon carver). I also think it would be great if enemy items would randomly break when fighting you as well.
I think what bugs me most about the inventory is the process when it’s full. Picking up a weapon or opening a chest feels like it could be much more streamlined. It’s a bit strange since the fast-switching for weapons and tunes is pretty good.
I’m sure y’all have figured this out, but there’s only one game save per profile. And you can see the time in a Switch menu after 10 days. Or in the WiiU Activity Log app.
Get got a Switch (thanks Amazon… which had them for like 10 mins on Friday) and Zelda and I’m having a blast! The wide open world is amazing. I’ve only played a couple hours, but it feels so vast and alive. Great fun!
Still playing it, haven’t gotten any of the divine beasts beat yet but I’ve run into something twice that really annoys me. The game sends me on some really intense series of quests, I work my butt off doing them and finally succeed and the prize is just…a slap in the face. I’m looking at you Korak Forest!!! And don’t even get me started on trying to get a dragon scale!
I’ve got the four divine beasts, the master sword, 14 heart containers, and lit all the Sheika towers. Still don’t feel prepared to approach the castle though. Not when guardians can take me down in about 3 seconds.
I’d really like to find all the memories first.
Finally beat Ganon on Sunday. The final fight wasn’t that hard (only had to heal once), which was good because I used up a lot of food just getting to him. I have no intention of getting 100% on this, but I would like to do all the shrines and most of the side quests. 61 down, 59 to go.
