Gundy, will you be my new best friend?
You bet. We’ll be the most tastefully dressed kids on the block!
I’ll agree with the big t-shirt part. But if you succeed in convincing a single one of the good looking young women at my gym to stop wearing their leggings and jog bras, I will have to hunt you down.
I would distinugish between clothing that is useful/functional, and clothing that is “fashionable.” Tennis shoes/sneakers really help when you’re running. You don’t care if they’re in fashion. They worked just as well before and after they were in & out of fashion, regardless of youngsters killing each other over Nikes. Fashion has nothing to do with function.
I see leggings as useful clothing for anything at all. Whether walking, running, cycling, or even sitting still or sleeping, leggings outperform anything else; they are useful for just being human because they go so well on your body and accommodate to any activity whatsoever. Plus, they look good on just about anybody. So why even bring fashion issues into it? Totally irrelevant.
I wore leggings and big shirts when they were in style. They were comfy. I don’t wear them any more – I don’t consider myself a slave to fashion, but I like to dress fairly up-to-date.
I do still wear leggings on one specific occasion, however. If we’re going out on the motorcycle, and it’s cool enough to wear my chaps, I wear heavy stretch-denim leggings underneath. You see, I wear 501 Levis and the legs are wide enough that they bunch up under the chaps and are very uncomfy. The leggings are better – and cheap, too. I buy them at Walmart when they drop down to $10.00. I have 2 pairs of the black ones in reserve in case they go so far out of style I can’t buy them anymore. I also have an old '80s pattern for leggings that I bought at a thrift shop, so I can make my own if need be. Thats how much better leggings are under chaps than jeans! They also look pretty good with the chaps. My old man says it looks like I put my butt in a pretty leather frame. Ain’t he poetic?
