I’m not a boxing fan, aficionado, or whatever. I didn’t know what Lewis looked like until I saw that fight. And I’m willing to put it on the line to say that that ending was ridiculous. Yeah, I know, a win by TKO is still a win. But frankly, it looked to me like Lewis was about as good a candidate for a TKO at the end of the fifth as whatsisname, in spite of being less bloody. He couldn’t even hold his hands up, fer cryin’ out loud!

Boxing’s already on the verge of not being a ‘real’ sport because of the role of the judges. Like figure skating-“5.8, 5.7, 5.8, and a 4.2 from the Russian judge.” When the ref starts abusing his power to stop the fight and declare a winner, it just turns into a joke. IMHO, of course.

Looking at the injuries in todays paper, close up, and knowing now that it needed 30 or more stitches, I really am glad this was stopped.

Val was in risk of serious injury to his eysight, it would have ended his career there and then, maybe it effectively has already since we don’t know if he will cut up again in his next bout.
