Leonard Nimoy has died.

Only a green blooded, pointy eared logic machine would fail to feel emotion at this news.

I have a tear in my eye. Must be those damn alien spores! Farewell, Leonard. May your katra endure in Mount Selaya.

His stint on *Mission Impossible *was mentioned briefly earlier; he took the place of Martin Landau and therefore was often seen in disguises during his two seasons on the show. Well worth a look.

And he played a truly nasty villain on the 1973 Columbo episode “A Stitch in Crime.”

He was a pro.

So sad. :frowning:

I think it may be time for a ST:TOS DVD marathon tonight.

:(RIP

Fiftieth anniversary of “The Cage.”

RIP! :frowning:

One of his several appearances on Combat!:

Feel free to honor the character in the Trek thread

Just what I was thinking - celebrity deaths don’t usually hit me this hard. I has a sad. :frowning:

As it happens, I started playing that game again this week. Now I’m gonna be depressed every time I discover a new technology. :frowning:

He’s been dead…

This is probably the hardest a celebrity death has hit me. :frowning:

I elect to ignore his book of poetry I have “you and I.”

OK how many of us stared into a mirror trying to do the eyebrow?
He was one of the few that gave joy to the many.

I’m not sure what networks have access to the ST:TOS episodes anymore for a “real” marathon. WPIX-11 in NY had them for a long while; WPHL-29 had them even longer.

But I honestly DO think that man deserves a marathon… and possibly a NASA craft named after him.

Raised on science fiction and an original Star Trek fan from its first run, I had the worst crush on him for most of my life. I wish I might have met him. LLAP, and I will always remember.

MeTV runs TOS on Saturday nights, so they would have no problem running a marathon. They probably could get Walter Koenig or Nichelle Nichols to do a tribute to him since they currently do promos for the show.

Don’t panic! We can fix this! He stashed his katra in DeForest Kelly’s head!

Oh . . . wait . . .

:frowning:

This loss hurts as much as when Douglas Adams passed from a freak heart attack…in a gym…

As a kid, I was constantly picked on and demeaned in school because I had the audacity to hate sports and like the sciences…
The day I discovered Star Trek TOS, and in particular, Spock, and his eminently logical unemotional Vulcan mindset, it just clicked with me, from that point I endeavored to be as Vulcan as possible, suppressing all signs of emotion, and being as logical as possible, the fact that this infuriated the Neolithic jock cadre was a bonus, since they couldn’t get the reaction they wanted, they left me alone, all I wanted

Thank you, Mr. Nimoy, you were the true star of Trek, not that hammy, scene stealing Shatner, your quiet, logical dignity truly was superior

No, I will not show emotions now, emotions are illogical, it’s just …dusty… here right now, just dusty, quite… Fascinating… How it can appear out of nowhere

Go enjoy a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster at Milliways with DeForest Kelly, James Doohan, and Douglas Adams.

Live Long and Prosper, you will be missed

Seriously, this one really hurts me :frowning:

That was a shock. Ebert’s death almost 2 years ago stunned me more than any other, though Nimoy is certainly painful. I’d also point out that Robin Williams death left me flabbergasted for at least 3-5 days.

At least Nimoy was 83.

To see what Spock did for TOS, imagine the show without him. It would have been another Lost In Space snore-fest.

I’d heard he wasn’t doing well.

Oh, yeah, I think I did that too. :frowning:
