More generally, the OP is just another example of Elucidator’s smarmy, baiting SDMB persona devaluing any valid points he might have otherwise made. (On rare occasions (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=206639), he forgets to adopt it and accidentally posts something thought provoking and informative. It’s always a shock when I read such a post, look over to see who wrote it, and realize that Elucidator is actually capable of forming simple declarative sentences. To borrow a line from the Simpson’s, “This is the stage we call Professor Elucidator, talkative, coherent, even insightful.”
Unfortunately, we don’t see this facet very often because apparently it’s more entertaining to post the kind of drivel cited in the OP.
That’s the spirit, Finagle! Little dashes of spite and envy certainly livens up this rather tepid Pitting. Was getting to be like be set upon by a gang of Amish delinquents!

The thread that you linked to was actually started by elucidator, and was not a pitting of him. Being abused in your own pit thread is not, in my opinion, the same as being pitted. I thought this rule had been firmly established in the Moderator Pitting contest.
As for elucidator’s thread that you linked to, i thought the most amusing thing about that was the hysterical reaction to an OP that was little more than a tongue-in-cheek jibe at conservatism. Christ, i’m a committed leftist who takes my politics very seriously, but i also have enough of a sense of humour to be able to laugh at myself and my end of the political spectrum every once in a while. Some of the conservatives on this board should try it sometime.

That’s sort of like someone claiming they’re new to stripping because they’ve never had their name on the marquee before. Elucidator’s been taken to the woodshed several times in the Pit, mostly after posting a Reeder-like OP.
