Actually…and speaking as one of the boards more staunch (or more vocal, anyway) conservatives…I think luci is okay. He’s funny as hell and rarely has enough of a grasp on the issues or enough meat in what he says to really be much of an obstacle to serious discourse.

I’d say just don’t take him so seriously. No one else does.

As for the OP, I actually like 'luci normally. Oh, he can be a bit of an ass sometimes when he is going off the deep end on some Bush rant or other, but normally I find him quite a droll fellow, especially when he’s on his stride. His response in my Oil for Food thread though was really lame and not up to his usual standards.

However, I think the OP in that thread threw in a question implying that invading Iraq was justified since the alternative was “simply keeping sanctions in place” with the corruption of the UN.

Taking into account the lies used to get us into the war, the invasion IMO was still a stupid thing to do even if all the accussations against the UN are true, so a response from a jester was deserved.

Also IIRC, several American interests were also involved in this program, so I do agree that whoever is guilty should be removed from their positions in the UN.

Having said that, this corruption paled in comparison to the one that came after the war and the occupation. I am still waiting for that investigation.
