If his post had actually derailed the thread this pitting might have been justified. When I looked over the thread I saw his post, and countered with a small post of my own then immediately got back to the topic at hand. I think that considering everyone else moved on we can safely say his ability to derail threads is severely lacking.
I don’t know why either. I think theres sort of a meme that the Republicans suck and Bush is failing completely that has come to dominant a lot of the message board circuit but from the way I see things we have several scandals that are really non-issues in the grand scheme of things and a situation in Iraq that I’m pretty pleased with.

I certainly threw in a question…but you’ll notice I didn’t answer it. How is that implying anything? Since you asked though I DIDN’T think that it was justification for the Iraqi invasion. Why everyone thinks that because I ask a question I’m implying an answer I don’t know…maybe it was poor wording on my part.

I like debating with 'luc… that is, when he’s not channeling Elsworth Toohey. Unforturnately, that’s only about 10% of the time. For someone who despised Ayn Rand as much as he claims, he’s got one of her main characters down to a T. I can’t be the only one who’s noticed that…?

I’m considered pretty funny in real life and I’m conservative. I even enjoy political satire that makes FUN of my side, back in the glory days of SNL I think there were some really funny parodies of Reagan. I also think there’s been a lot of funny stuff done satyrizing Bush, a huge percentage of it has been inane and stupid though (but I hold around 75% of “comedy” to be pretty stupid.)
However it’s a lot harder to joke around on political issues when 75% of the forum (and I’m being generous because I’m betting it’s more like 90%) is liberal and there is an extremely shrill and vocal core of liberal posters that would dogpile any attempt at humor.
I feel like quite the “visiting team” on this message board, reminds me of going to a college football game as a visitor. You’re surrounded by people screaming and insulting you, to keep it sane you have to pick your battles carefully and not try to draw too much attention to yourself.
By the way, kudos lonesome loser!

Re the post that inspired this one: I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time sparring with xtisme and I don’t believe it’s his style to start a thread in order to divert attention away from some other current news topic. I think he was genuinely interested in the topic. I think he probably also relished the opportunity to stick the needle to UN supporters (read: liberals) on the board, but that he still actually desired the discussion for its own sake, not as a tactic. It follows then, that I think 'lucy was probably a little hasty and unfair in ascribing nefarious motives to the OP of that thread.
Fox News on the other hand…
What would you do w/o FoxNews to piss all over at times like this? I mean, you’d actually have to address the fact that it’s been reported by all the mainstream news outlets, including PBS’s New Hour.
