Let the corruption begin

Man, when you guys go banana republic you don’t fuck around, do you?

Forget his children-his transition team is packed with industry lobbyists. Because it’s very important to stop people from becoming lobbyists after they leave government but there’s no ethical problem with letting active lobbyists help choose government employees.

You’ve got it. Why, he’s only following in the proud tradition of Dick Cheney and Haliburton and KBR. Such an intermingling of private enterprise and state capital brings a patriotic tear to the eye.

Did you hear about how Crooked Hillary was running a pay to play operation out of her charitable foundation? Scandalous! Such a nasty woman.

Trump will show her how it’s done properly.

There is nothing in law that prevents the chief executive from using the powers of the office for personal financial or political gain provided he or she does not violate any laws or compromise national security (sufficient to justify impeachment or legal injunction against action), and this has been an occurrence more common than not (influence peddling occurred pretty openly under both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, and the Reagan administration was rife with corruption and scandals, although Reagan managed to distance himself from the majority of it and convincingly faked obliviousness about Iran-Contra). That last eight years have been refreshingly free of deliberate corruption at high levels to the point that sites like Infowars and Breitbart have had to resort to blaming the policies of the prior administration on this one in an attempt of political gaslighting is a historical anomaly. This is not to say that this administration has been free of scandal at lower levels or ineffectualness (often as not effected by an oppositional Congress).

The difference here, of course, is that prior administrations had to put at least a patina of legitimacy upon their transgressions, whereas Trump literally does not care if he is caught acting in unethical fashion, to the point that this is his avowed modus operandi. He boasts of his ability to lie, cheat, and use threat of legal action to shut down opposition. Anyone who is ‘surprised’ about Trump using executive authority to openly enrich himself and his family really has no excuse for their ignorance as this is exactly what Trump has done his entire career, as described in his own autobiographies. He will view bankrupting the nation to be “good business” as long as it results in his personal enrichment, a tact he has employed repeatedly in his business dealings.

Send me the link in a PM if you would? As a remider? I’ll have to look up the laws and regs for you.

But every year, we are required to take mandatory ethics training. It is very clear on what is and what isn’t allowed, and we can be investigated and disciplined for simply “the appearance of impropriety”. Real actual improprieties can come with heavy fines, or jail.

Apparently, the laws don’t apply to Trump. They only apply to other people. Literally. The president, no matter who it is, does not have to follow Conflict Of Interest laws.

It should be a real interesting four years.

But be happy and feel safe, in the knowledge that those of us at lower levels, who CAN"T do damage, are tightly held to both the spirit and the letter of the law. We don’t even have to be guilty, there only has to be “an appearance”.

I have 0, Zero, zip point shit, nada confidence that Comey will ever investigate his Glorious leader. Trump has a pass to do whatever he wants. He could sell the White house to China and pocket the money and nothing would happen.

Re; my previous post …
Legally speaking, he can do whatever he wants. Anything.

I sure was surprised.

Trump thought he had come up with this insanely clever new idea. Jesus Christ, President Caillou.

A poster on another board claiming to insider knowledge, says this:

Hey, take it for what you will -

I have a friend in finance at the right level to be involved in what’s going down, who offered up this version. Don’t expect agreement, just discourse.

"Trump is tapping some very scary people from high finance–pointing to moves to make serious cash via public pillage. This stuff can go more or less unseen, i e Hank Paulson’s epically massive haul via TARP and its no receipts policy.

As for infrastructure, they will be his real estate point investors. Fear Trump’s infrastructure plan. Its where his backdoor billions will come from. This is what he knows. Those encouraging his infrastructure plans are clueless. We want him to do NOTHING. Because he’ll get a piece of every project. The deal is Trump gets finance, he lets ‘them’ have social/political. He’s Trump! Like the Camorra.

John Paulson is picking who he wants - Fannie and Freddie will be done to his (fucking enormous) benefit quickly. Part of the deal.Welcome to Moscow on the Potomac. This is the deepest, deepest and largest scale corruption. Maybe the plan isn’t to become dictator but just to gut the entire country. Or both."

But hey, maybe he’ll just tweak Obamacare instead.

To clarify, this is a person working in the finance sphere on the transition and makeup of what will be. He is a center right guy, hoping for a loss to stultify things and bring about the chance of a moderate right pro civil liberties smaller government group to take things back. He feels this has great potential for historic collapse.

So all that money WON’T be going to all the suckers who elected him?

Sounds just like ALL the business deals, he has EVER made.

That sounds like some pretty extraordinary stuff going down if true. So does he plan to be a whistleblower at some point or what?

I have a sneaking suspicion that whistleblower protection laws will be on the chopping block soon (if they aren’t already).

Pam Bondi on his transition team is not a good start. For those who don’t remember, Bondi is Florida’s AG who dropped an investigation into Trump University when he donated to her campaign.

I said that octopus demonstrated a talent for understatement difficult to match. But you are closing in…

I’m actually expressing what amounts to alarm compared to Clinton supporters’ complete disinterest in her own sketchy actions.

Which is reasonable, as her sketchy actions are largely made up.

We have the same amount of evidence for Trump’s. Can’t prove a quid pro quo, therefore there isn’t one.

Well, he does have a fraud trial teed up.

And donated money to an AG looking into his case.
And his foundation is actually a scam.
And was fined for not renting to blacks.
And has been sued many times over not paying contractors.
And ran a sham college.
And refused to give his tax information.
And is playing fast and loose with his blind trust.

And aside from that, he’s demonstrated himself to be a fucking monster.
