People are assuming - quite reasonably, in my opinion - that since Trump has never in his life done anything that didn’t benefit him financially, he will continue to act in the same manner as President.
Given how much we’ve been wrong about his intentions so far, I’m not sure we’re likely to be right this time either. Turns out he actually did want to run for President, so maybe he actually wants to be President and be remembered fondly by history. Famous old dudes like to leave a legacy.
Oh, come on!
You can no more assume that Trump is doing this for the money and/or power than you can assume that grass is green or that there are 24 hours in a day.
Or maybe it’s revenge for that White House Correspondents Dinner. In which case ACA is so toast.
Suggestion to the moderators.
Let’s have an omnibus Trump corruption thread. I think we’re going to need it.
Gold is a very poor choice for bullets - too soft.
Rest assured that Trump will have the best bullets, though. Fabulous bullets. Really classy bullets, just the best you’ve ever seen.
In one respect Trump is being more honest than Bill Clinton: he wants a stay of his fraud trial but only until after the inauguration, since the transition is so busy. Clinton didn’t think the President should be able to be sued at all.
However, I have a feeling that it would make a better component of an armor-piercing projectile than lead would since it is much more dense. Let’s develop a HEAT round that costs millions of bucks per round! We will have the best anti tank weapons. The best.
We are going to need a new forum.
And the hole in the target’s armor will be gold plated. Classy.
Because if a sitting President is sued, it should be done by the HoR and judged by the Senate. IOW, it should be an impeachment. If it doesn’t rise to that level, the blind trust (as a POTUS should be legally required to have, but apparently isn’t) should be sued or the suit can damn well wait until the prick leaves office.
When a verdict against him can be used as a pretext for impeachment. Which in turn can be a pretext for his bailing out of all of these responsibilities without admitting he’s “lost”.
I think that excuse is pretty much backwards since once he’s in not only will it become traditionally and legally more difficult to prosecute, but hopefully he will want to spend time actually presidenting. If he wasn’t ready to hit the ground running and legitimately needs to spend 80 hours a week preparing for the job, I guess he shouldn’t have run then. I’m weeping for him.
He’s even been sued by his own lawyers.
And he is way too cozy with Putin.
But none of that matters, because… LOCK HER UP!
Immunity from lawsuit does not shield him from crimes and con games committed BEFORE he was elected. He is only protected for crimes and con games he will be committing as president.
He’ll just have another rally. Stir up the crowd with the usual crapola, and then decry his persecution. “Maybe I should just pardon myself?” If the crowd doesn’t go wild with approval, he was only joking. If they do, he will solemnly acknowledge that the people have spoken, and, with great reluctance, he will comply with their will.
Maybe he’ll decide “presidenting” is just too much work. In that case we get Pence, who is just as bad.
The New York Times reported:
Mr. Trump, a homebody who often flew several hours late at night during the campaign so he could wake up in his own bed in Trump Tower, is talking with his advisers about how many nights a week he will spend in the White House. He has told them he would like to do what he is used to, which is spending time in New York when he can.
….
Now, as he prepares to assume the presidency, an open question remains about the capital he repeatedly spurned: Just how much is he willing to become a part of it? Mr. Trump, a homebody who often flew several hours late at night during the campaign so he could wake up in his own bed in Trump Tower, is talking with his advisers about how many nights a week he will spend in the White House. He has told them he would like to do what he is used to, which is spending time in New York when he can. The future first lady, Melania Trump, expects to move to Washington. But the couple’s 10-year-old son, Barron, is midway through a school year in New York, and it is unclear when the move would happen. The questions reflect what Mr. Trump’s advisers described as the president-elect’s coming to grips with the fact that his life is about to change radically. They say that Mr. Trump, who was shocked when he won the election, might spend most of the week in Washington, much like members of Congress, and return to Trump Tower or his golf course in Bedminster, N.J., or his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach on weekends.
This is the guy the Deplorables voted for. A part-time guy who hates work. Almost as much as he hates paying others to do his work for him.
Well … on the bright side … a President who’s only looking out for his own interest will be eminently predictable … so we know that investing in Trump Inc. stock will be profitable … where else can we invest with so little risk?
(bolding mine)
there is no such thing. The Trump Organization is private corporation.
