Let the inappropriate jokes commence

I saw this on HuffPo

Hindu’s outraged at swimsuit depicting Hindu deity.

I noticed some relatively mild post on HuffPo was deleted.

“I’d bow to that deity” so decided not to post there, but gee whiz, isn’t it too good an opportunity for inappropriate humor? Aha! Obviously the clever and somewhat twisted minds of the SDMB.
I couldn’t help but picture a Jesus swimsuit with a strategically placed beard.
And…begin!

Umm, I’m on dial-up and the article is taking forever to load. But, I’d like to ask if a Lakshmi (OTOMH goddess of luck, one eye causes good luck and the other bad) swimsuit actually is inappropriate. I’ve seen Hindu deities on lunch boxes, t-shirts and have a set of finger puppets (Shiva, Kali, Ganehsa, and Garuda).

OTTOMH, when it comes to certain godesses (Shakti comes to mind in this pantheon) offerings of lust, masturbating to their image or offering them semen are entirely appropriate.

I have yet to see a huge wave of outrage over the many products portraying Betty Boop as a many armed Hindu goddess. I’m just not understanding the outrage over a swimsuit.

Oh, a joke

“Hey Lakshmi! Wanna get lucky?”

Good golly, Miss Kali…

Yeah, I know, different goddess. Work with me.

She’s so gorgeous and sexy. One piece bathing suit with goddess on abdomen. Bikini with Goddess on butt.

A friend of mine said “That is offensive …take that off immediately”

Now that’s my kind of alter call.

LOL!! I still like it.

She’s also a goddess of fertility, beauty (physical and spiritual), grace, etc. Seems entirely appropriate for a swimsuit, actually!

head shaking I swear, for a religion with some of the sexiest religious art and texts, the Hindu people seem as sadly sexually repressed as the rest of 'em.
