If the Leafs can survive for a month and a half without Joseph, they can survive the playoffs without Sundin.
The Flyers are facing elimination, which is a good thing. Looks like the Broad Btreet Bullies are in for some detention, heh. Even worse, they’re being beaten by the Ottawa Chokemasters. Truly a fate worse than death.
Almost as bad as losing to the Carolina Flush. As if playing in Jersey weren’t humiliation enough…

Did anyone else watch that sad excuse for a game between Montreal and Boston??
It was a bad thing that my Habs lost but what can you expect when Theodore doesn’t seem to be able to stop shit in the first period?
The loss pales in comparison to the hit on Zednik by Mclaren at the end of the game. Hopefully, Mclaren will be gone for the rest of the series and Zednik’s injuries aren’t serious.
If Mclaren isn’t suspended he had better call in sick on Saturday because he’s a marked man after the shit he pulled tonight.
And so, an overachiving BlackHawks team is show the ropes by a Blues team that severly underachived in the regular season, but sure as hell showed their playoff muscle in this series…
Bring on the Red Wings…or anybody else who dares to get in the way of Dallas Drake!!!
*Vancouver president and general manager Brian Burke called a news conference to strongly criticized the officiating on Wednesday. After four games Detroit had a 17-16 advantage in power plays.
On Thursday he was asked if he wanted to comment on the officiating after the first period, when the Canucks had three power plays to Detroit’s one.
"No,’’ Burke said.*
Oh yes, I’d love to see a Detroit vs St Louis final out West, and a Montreal vs Anybody in the East.
Let’s all pray that the wife-beaters don’t make it past LA…
“I didn’t intend to injure anybody, I’ve never done that in my career. Look at my record. It shows I’m a clean player. I can’t talk about my suspension. I’m only thinking about the next game.” - Kyle Mclaren
Kyle Mclaren is a sad fucking excuse for a human being and right now the only fitting punishment would be getting the beating of his fucking life followed by a lengthy suspension and a huge fucking fine. He sounded pretty unrepentant when he was interviewed after the game and he’s a fucking liar to boot (see above). There will be no next game for this sack of shit and whenever he returns to the ice he’ll be a marked man.
The report is that Zednik has a broken nose, broken jaw, and a concussion and will not be playing Saturday or any other night for quite some time.
Therrien has declared war on the Bruins for this hit on Zednik, I figure the best kind of payback will be for the Habs to go into Boston on Saturday and blow them away.
What is wrong is the fact that they finished 3rd in the east with 91 points. That wouldn’t qualify in the west where the Oilers missed the playoffs with 92 points. The Southeast division is so lame, yet it is like pulling teeth to get a team to win that division even with lame Tampa and Florida.
In general I agree with the concept of rewarding a good regular season with home ice in the playoffs. But for Carolina to finish 3rd, when they had the points for 7th place is a travisty. Seed the playoffs by total points and not by the current system that rewards the division winners even when they don’t deserve it.
"The Carolina Hurricanes have home ice until the Eastern Conference finals, at least. "
That could only happen if we were to assume that the Canes make it to the Eastern Conference finals… I cheered for the Canes when they were playing the Devils but now it’s time for me to start cursing the ground they walk on.
GO HABS!!!
It would appear that at least in the East, the regular season has meant squat when it has come to determining the winners in the first round. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Islanders beat Toronto and if that happens we will have had the fifth through eighth place teams knock out the first through fourth place teams. I do not for a moment want Toronto to lose tonight but it could happen.
It would seem that the regular season doesn’t really mean that much when the playoffs roll around. Take my Habs, they had a strong start, suffered some calamitous losses during the regular season then finished the season with an incredible 8 - 2- 0 record. I think they coulsd have won their last two except Therrien decided to rest his best players after the playoff spot was assured.
It is sad that the Oilers could not make the playoffs with 92 points but they really did suck some major ass going down the stretch.
I think the system works well the way it is set up, the playoffs are so much more entertaining when one gets that East West rivalry going.
Man, it has got to suck donkeys to be a Flyers fan. It looks like they fired Barber.
Five fired coaches in five years. Maybe that isn’t the solution. At least the players are off the hook thanks to the scarifical scapegoat, not to mention Clarke.
Hehe…well…i can’t belive i got the West right. It’s always hard to predict the East, teams are always so inconsistent…you might as well pick by total random chance. Who ever comes out of the West is gona have an easy time in the Finals…unless Montreal comes all the way through, and then they win by default…all that Destiny and Fate crap…
Might as well give my 2nd round predictions:
West:
St.louis vs The Dead Things…:)( Blues in 7…god willing)
San Jose vs The Avs( Avs in 7)
East:
Montreal vs Canes( Canadians in 6…i just don’t see them losing…they’re blessed by the Hockey Gods and only an improper sacrifice will hinder their success)
Leafs vs Senators( Sens in 5/6…Leafs are too banged up and unless Cujo steps up i don’t see them advancing)
Toronto takes a world class ass whupping at the hands of the Senators and he’s nowhere to be seen…
The game was pretty much over after the Sens racked up 3 in the first 13 minutes… the other 2 goals were just icing. Lalime has been phenomenol in getting 4 shutouts so far. Having a .38 GA is amazing and if Lalime keeps this up it will be a Sens vs ??? in the Eastern final. I’d put money on the Habs being the ??? as Theodore seems to have hit his stride in the last two games against the Bruins.
