Hey deb2world, wanna borrow my Red Wings jersey to wear to the game?

Frankly, I am interested in seeing how the Ducks do in the second round. The Stars have routinely had their way with the Ducks and the Ducks are heading into uncharted waters. On a team that has very little playoff experience, I think that the last thing they would have wanted is a long layoff between series. Breaks up any mo that they had generated, don’t cha know? I’ll go out on a limb and say Stars in 5.
Skydive101 thanks for the offer, but I am alergic to the smell of squid, especially swept-out-of-town squid.
adam yax I am also worried about the layoff, but then again the Stars will have a hefty layoff. Not as long as the Duckies, but long enough to throw their game off. Since you mentioned it, I was forced to go to the current line – ok it ain’t that current since I am at work and they block all gambling sites so I had to go to the LATimes sports page – they have Dallas at -240. So I guess the bookies are picking the Stars also, that is a good things since the Duckies will be the underdogs and not have the pressure of the expectation that they are gonna win. So I will counter your prediction as Ducks in 5 (I pick that number cause I think I will also go to that game as well and it is always fun to see a team win a series).

Woo-Hoo!!!
Leafs win in 2ot!!!
The two teams have played enough periods to add up to more than eight games, and they still have one game left to go!!
There are three game seven’s on tomorrow, and that is gonna be some great hockey to watch.
GO LEAFS GO!!!
Woohoooo!! Go Leafs, Go!!.
The Leafs just won in double OT to tie the series at 3-3. I know that there’s still one long, tough game ahead but, for the first time this series, Toronto outplayed Philly and they seem to have the momentum going into game 7 tomorrow night. The Flyers are definitely missing Desjardins and it looks like Roenick is feeling the heat, too. If Sundin and Nolan can somehow pick up their games for tomorrow then I wouldn’t be surprised if they move on to the second round. I also wouldn’t be surprised if it we went into overtime again.
I’d also like to see Vancouver move on, as well. It’s going to be one heckuva hockey night tomorrow!
As a dejected Wings fan, I just gotta hope the Wild take out Colorado in game 7. I can’t handle seeing the Cup in Denver again.
I’m still here…
I can’t believe I will have to be at work while tonight’s games are on…
Vancouver has finally hit it’s stride and the Blues are a hurting bunch right now… the Canucks will move on.
The Leafs are going to be a tired bunch when they face the Senators in the next round.
Who would have thought that Minnesota would take Colorado to a 7th game? Colorado is going to win the next tilt for one simple reason… Patrick Roy. Everything is on the line and Roy is where he plays best… in the playoffs.
Adam… Edmonton and Dallas won’t be playing each other in the first round next year. Perhaps we’ll see them facing off in the semi-final instead.
I still think that we’d be better off if the meeting could be postponed to the conference finals. That way the Oilers could have lots of home games in the first two rounds and maybe make some money for a change.
Another idea, and this does have merit, is to go back to the old 1 vs 16 format. This year the first round will cost us either St. Louis or Vancouver (Avg 101.5 pts) and either Toronto or Philly (Avg 102.5 pts). It seems that the league would want to try and keep the high end teams around for as long as possible, plus the Oilers would have had the honour of playing, and probably beating, the evil Wings in the first round.
And Toronto is gone. This does not ease the pain and ignominy of my beloved Wings losing to the Disney squad, but at least we won’t have to watch Belfour fall over every time a member of the opposing team comes near him. Or whack them when he thinks the refs aren’t looking.
Fuck.
What an embarassment.
Don’t forget Kaberle. Fucknugget.
Hey, CuriousCanuck, whassamatta? Flyers got ya down?
I’ll give you credit though; it was a good series and Toronto played well. That’s despite the ass kicking at game 7.
Son of a…!!!
You fu…!!!
Damned stupid damned weak assed defence!!
Quin, what exactly does Lumme have to do to get benched???
…go blues…
Yes, another quest for the Cup, another year the Blues go home without it. IIRC, this was the 24th straight season the Blues made the playoffs and the 24th straight time they’ve ended their run empty-handed.
After the first, say, 15 years of this (I don’t recall exactly when) I stopped following the Blues during the regular season, cuz it seems almost a sure thing we’ll be in the playoffs. Once the playoffs began, even though it intereferred with my beloved baseball season, I would watch the Blues, mistakenly believing this would be our year.
Then a few years ago, the Blues won the President’s Cup. We were the best team in the NHL! This was our year! We were knocked out of the first round by San Jose. That’s when I decided, “Fuck 'em. I’ll only get excited about this team’s chances if we advance past the first round.” Well, I didn’t exactly keep that promise. So here I am, all pissed off and dejected because the Blues pissed away a 3 game to 1 lead in the playoffs and I let myself get my hopes up. We couldn’t win one game out of three? Just ONE game?!
There’s a whole generation of Blues fans who may take for granted that the Blues will always be in the playoffs. Unfortunately, that whole generation may also take for granted that the Blues will choke.
Crunchy… The Blues didn’t piss away a 3-1 advantage.
They were playing Vancouver, a tough, and very talented team that came on when the Blues were hit with quite a dose of adversity.
Remember that Vancouver was in the running for the top seed in the west through most of the season and has one of the most devastating #1 lines in hockey and a 2nd line that is almost as good. Many teams would like to have their firepower and size going for them.
Now… I feel for the Colorado fans who won’t be cheering on their team in the second round (not really). Minnesota only wanted to win one game against the Av’s and now they will be facing Vancouver in the next round after eliminating Colorado in overtime. Even I thought there was no way in hell the Wild were gonna pull this one off… but they did.
What the fuck happened in Philadelphia tonight? The Leafs stunk up the whole joint and took a serious ass whupping. At least they could have had the decency to show up. I’ll feel better when the Senators whup the Flyer’s asses in the next round.
That all Canadian final is still a possibility… Vancouver vs Ottawa sounds really good to me as it’s up to one of them to bring the Grail home where it belongs.
My picks for the next round…
Dallas over Giguere… er… Anaheim. Barely.
Vancouver over Minnesota.
Ottawa over anyone they play.
Those fucking Devils over Tampa.
I’ll be cheering on our Canadian teams and those “lowly” Ducks because Dallas… still… sucks.
Yeah, tomorrow when I wake up that’ll sink in and I won’t feel as bad. After all, no other city can boast a team with so many consecutive playoff appearances, so that’s something I guess. Tonight though, finding out the score of game 7 after having a 3-1 advantage, it sure feels like a pissing-away situation.
Remember, this has been going on with this team almost as long as I’ve been alive. Just venting.
I’m still bitter about that damn loss to San Jose a few years ago though. [sub]We won the damn President’s Cup![/sub]
Wait, so who’s gonna beat the Devils now??
The Wild have officially become my second-favorite team. Can’t wait to see another Cup Finals come to NJ. Good riddance Gayple Leaves and Av’s.
Oh, my pick: looks like Stars vs. Devils again. But wouldn’t I love to see a trapper’s paradise matchup of Devils vs. Wild.
Ahhhhhhh, defensive hockey boner…
Giguere over Cujo, Fernandez over Roy, Checkmanek over Balfour. I wonder if it’s just a fluke, or has their been a changing of the guard. i Hope so , hate all of those guys.
