I don’t agree with the call and also the rule. The goal defending team pushed our hero into the net which caused it to lift up just a little bit. But the better team did win in the end and all’s well, etc.
I am so upset, I could still get a ticket (not great, but I would be there) for game 4 which I figure will be the game the Ducks clinch but gosh I will be having eye surgery that day and my Opthomologist doesn’t think me going to a hockey game is a good idea. bummer.
*Note for all of the other team’s fans–don’t take my trash talk serious cause I sure don’t take yours serious and I really am a good loser, just not a good winner cause I like jumping around and gloating *
Deb… I think the call and the rule need to be changed as well… having the net come off did not affect anyone’s play, interfere with Turco (who may have added to the push), and the puck was in the net.
Perhaps this will be looked at in the off season but for now, dem’s da rules.
This is the place for trash talk and the playoffs wouldn’t be the playoffs without it. Have I mentioned yet that Dallas sucks ass?
So our Canadian squads were triumphant in their first games, Vancouver overcame a 2 goal deficit and won in overtime and the Sens, after wobbling in the first period came out and hung an ass whupping on the Flyers. It’s all good.
Let’s hope that the Ducks prevail again tonight without having to go to a fourth period of overtime. It would do them good to return to the pond being up 2 games on those damned Stars.
I find it interesting that, during the Wings - Ducks series, my brother Harborwolf questioned whether Giguere was overly padded in the chestal region (like a flat-chested girl at prom). So we click over to see how what the Stars make of the Ducks, and there’s Darren Pang, wondering if Giguere is overly padded in the chestal region. My brother just laughed. Then got pissed off because the announcers never brought it up during the Wings series.
Giguere does look like he fits somewhere between Garth Snow and the Michelin Man. We’ve got two on him so far, and I keep seeing things that make me wonder about him.
OTOH, when are the Stars going to realize that the big cross ice passes aren’t working, and in fact are a major source of turn overs. Also, the best sustained pressure that the Stars have had come off the dump and chase, yet they still try to carry it in far too often. At least the physical play has picked up, the Ducks defence is not that physical and can be worn down, and they have two 40 year olds for crying out loud.
How may doughnuts did it take for the Ducks to bribe Koharski?
I don’t know how they have done it, but the Ducks have turned hockey into a tackle sport and are getting away with it. How Neidermyer didn’t get a penalty for his assault on Modano in OT is beyond the pall. What I also learned is that if you touch Kariya its a penalty, but if you tackle a Star, you’ll end up with a goal (two today, actually).
Well, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried as hell…
But, on the bright side, Bill Guerin says he is playing tonight, and that should give both Dallas’ physical play and offensive pressure a boost.
Even if he’s rusty, he can hit people.
and Feynn,
no one is plaining about non-calls (that’s just hockey… it’s stupid, but the rules just flat out change in the post season) it’s the uneven officiating. There are good officials in the NHL, but Don Koharsky is not one of them… he’s embarassing.
That said, I don’t really think he cost Dallas the game.
Tonight is huge. Dallas wins, and it’s 2-1, no big deal, and maybe Anaheim’s bubble bursts.
Time to see if the Ducks ride turns back into a pumpkin. Giguere was pissed off after the first Stars goal, probably because he let himself get way out of position and still give up those huge an juicy rebounds. The second Stars goal was like goals the Ducks had scored in the first two games and was also the kind of thing that Giguere had been stopping.
Wyld Stallyn, why do you think that Burns had a legitimate gripe? He tried to beat the system and couldn’t. Home team gets the last change for a reason and he knows it. He would have raised hell if the Lightning got away with, in NJ, what he was trying to do.
The Ducks didn’t have the huge disparity of shots on goal with the other team. But during the 3rd period they didn’t have very many quality shot on goal.
I agree that Burns was trying to pull a fast one, and got caught.
Oops. That’s the breaks of the game.
Fantastically exciting game between the ducks and Stars last night, and yes, I would have said the same thing had Dallas lost.
Now that they have the SLIGHTEST bit of momentum (they have played well for two games, but now they have a win to show for it) I’ll be very interested to see if they can build on it in game 4. Turco was fantastic, and, finally, he was one goal better… rather than 1 goal not good enough. monday finally just flat out looked like Dallas Stars hockey… more hitting, more traffic in front of the net, less turnovers, great goaltending.
Yeah, sorry to everyone for my analysis that Burns had a “legitimate gripe”. I was drunk at time of posting, and fairly salty due to the result of the game; hence, I lost sight of the fact that it was an attempt at some tomfoolery and not really a legitimate move. Hopefully los Diablos can turn it around tonight.
Looks like the Flyers and Sens are gonna kill each other; this should bode well for the Devs (provided they can pull their sticks out of their asses and win 2 more games).
I liked seeing that much emotion in the Wyld/'Nucks game last night, and I love that the guys on ESPN are referring to them as the 'Nucks recently. It just sounds really funny to me. What if we had Ducks/'Nucks next round? Now, that is high comedy, folks.
Who’s everyone’s picks for Conn Smythe to this point? I’m biased towards Devils obviously, but I don’t think anyone but JSG can honestly be viewed as more valuable to their team at this point. In the first series, and to a lesser extent this series, the opposition has been in complete control of the action, and Giguere bails out the Ducks every time. Uncanny.
Until someone (hopefully the Stars) knocks the Ducks out… JSG is a shoo-in for the Conn Smythe.
Like you are biased toward the Devils, I’m obviously biased toward the Stars… but if the Ducks get booted, then Zubov, Langenbrunner, Turco and Brodeur would be among the candidates. It would SO depend on performance in the last two rounds, though… still too close to call.
Vancouver is up on Minnesota and the Ducks are WAY up on Dallas… life is good.
Now… Ottawa has to triumph over Philadelphia so that they can go on to the exorcise the Devils (if they win) with an eventual face off in the final with Vancouver or Anaheim.
What a game. My Opthomologist allowed me to watch the game, but I have not been able to gloat here cause I have been unable to see close up to read until now. Both teams played great. The Ducks just ended out on top at the final buzzer.
I am torn though. I have tickets to game 6, but I dont’ really want them to have to go that far. I am ok with having to buy tickets for the next round to be at a game.
WooHoo
deb really enjoying the Stanley Cup playoffs this year 2world
Just got my ticket for tonight’s game at the CAA; just look for the drunken caucasoid jackass… wait a second…
It’s a good thing God invented credit cards (or, as I like to call them “Monopoly Money Cards”) otherwise I wouldn’t be able to spend like a high-roller.
