Let's cheer up! A Rosenmontag MMP

Yeah, tuna and crackers! Doctor said to keep her fluids up with diluted apple juice (which she tolerated just fine), and feed her protein-rich, plain foods, like tuna, poached chicken and boiled egg. The crackers came in because HRH specifically asked for them and it was the first time in 18 hours that she had shown any interest in food! HRH slept through last night (although she still woke up at 4:45am, and then fidgeted in bed with me until 6am) and has no fever this morning. She must be on the mend, since she scoffed down some scrambled eggs and pita bread for breakfast!

I have been reading everyone else’s posts, but my retention rate is approaching zero! Apologies for my apparent self-centredness in expecting sympathy but doling out nothing in return! Hopefully after a decent night’s sleep, I will be more interactive! So, please refer to rosie’s sig-line in the meantime!

I call that MMP-nesia. Pronounced mipnesia.
I have it in spades and then some. Good night, all and have a pleasant tomorrow.

ROADTRIP!!! W00T!!!111one! In 9 hours. If I don’t post a MMP Monday, send swampy to bail me out of jail.

Bravo, rigs, bravo! : waves Zippo :

I’ll keep grandma JoeDawg in my prayers.

Yay for less sick toddlers!

Yay for less sick MMMoooooooommmmm!!!

Y’all be good!

Hey, you guys seen this yet? Interesting…

Yeah, I’ve seen the splinter boards. Certainly, it’s none of my business if people want to start new boards, but it feel like an overreaction to a non-issue. On the other hand, if these boards crash and burn because of fiscal problems, it’s nice to know the community has another hangout.

Up relatively early again, thanks to my bladder and a coughing fit. Today’s plans include laundry. I should probably go grocery shopping, too, but I don’t know if the world deserves my germs. So we’ll see about that. I may knit, too.

**FCD **is watching L&O: SVU - what a sick show that is! I don’t know how he can keep watching it. And I don’t see why Mariska Hargatay always looks like she’s sucking on a lemon. I’ll be glad when those shows fade away. ugh.

Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. It’s gonna be a stormy afternoon followed by a cold front tomorrow. Not unusual for this time of year.

doggio I’m guessin’ you’ve left by now but y’all are headin’ into what looks like a pretty intense storm system, so stay safe!

Ok, need some brekkies. Tummy is rumbly.

Later Y’all!

[Blues Brothers]It’s 407 miles to Atlanta, we’ve got a full tank of gas, a half pack of cigarettes, it’s dark and we’re wearing sunglasses. hit it.[/BB]

See y’all Sunday

thanks for the warning, swampy!

Yup! In this thread though, I’ll keep it to saying I’m so close to one side of the fence that I’m leaning on it. There’s far too much to be learned to sacrifice the many opportunities for my own personal growth to outright leave before the Dope goes 404.

Here in the real world, I’ve been up since 2:30 am. I don’t mind the need to pee despite limiting liquids at night, it’s just that I used to be able to get back to sleep.

We scored the last table and chair set they had in stock, now assembled and looking all spiffy in the kitchen. I’m so happy for the extra prep space I could cry. Gotta drag the vac around today to get the bits of styrofoam we’ve tracked all over the place.

Drive safely, doggio!

Almost forgot to say: swampy, Miss Betsy and JoeDawg are in my thoughts.

Mawnin! Glad HRH is feeling better dotty and sorry to hear about Joe Dawg’s gran, swamps. Hope she feels better soon.

rigs, your parody rawks!

Mr. Anachi is off to the depot to buy some trees for our frost nipped backyard. I am just goofing around till I decide to go to the sto.

I am buying several lottery tickets in anticipation of the extremely remote possibility I could win. Work is that bad.

We’re supposed to be 84 degrees Murkin today then down to the 60s tomorrow. You stay safe up thar bear. We aren’t supposed to get the bad weather but we could sure use some rain.

What to do for dinner tonight. I’m thinking something on the grill since it’s supposed to be so nice. Hmmmmm, steak and sallit would be good.

To everyone else…good vibes heading your way.

Tupug

Good morning!

Good thoughts sent to JoeDawg’s granma, Swampy. You’re a good guy for cooking for them, too.

Yay for the sickies feeling slightly better.

Laundry day here. Poor pups don’t get to go to the park today. We got the cold front that’s headed Swampy’s way.

Mr Rebo is still working on ReboSon’s car, but says it may be driveable when he’s done! Then we’ll take it to the shop and get some relatively-minor-but -hard-to-get-to stuff done and yay! He’ll have his car back. He starts school next Monday.

I forgot to plan anything for dinner. I’ll have to think on it a bit, while I plan menus for next week. Tomorrow we’re having babyback ribs. It should warm up a bit tomorrow. I’m thinking something warm and creamy for today - or maybe some veggie soup.

I’ve looked at the splinter board a little. I still don’t get what everybody is so pissed about here. While I may cuss like a sailor in RL, I don’t tend to do that on this board. I think some people just *like *to get mad and cuss a blue streak. I dunno.

Time to fix some breakfast, I think. Then the chores shall commence.

eleanorrigby, I assume TH is your hubby, I don’t know your background, but it sounds like a bit of a mess. Good luck.

Wow Stauderhorse! from one noob poster to another, congratulations!

Delores Reborn happy birthday last week! mine was the 17th, when was yours? Age really is a state of mind, and I know I forgot to grow up, so I had a blast at my party and I feel no older then I did at my 18th! Where did hubby go? why did he go without you?

Karyn I really didn’t know anything either when I started. But I figured goats were hardy so I got them first, then chickens and roosters. Last year I added pigs, this year my horse and maybe a cow or two! I have awesome neighbours that are farmers, I grew up on a farm, but that was 30+ years ago, but I just asked if I needed info or help.

ScareyFaerie good luck on the temp move-out.

jsgoddess Haha! I have a 13 yr old niece who is horse mad. She has stated she is moving in with me, barring that, she thinks she needs to come down every weekend and for the summer. She lives 3 hours away. I’m sure I will see much more of her now!

Nava Those translations are just brutal. And they sent you a form with a deadline and basicly asking your to translate it for them? :dubious:

SmartAleq! Hello! Wowsa another fab 50er thats an Aquarian! Happy Birthday last week! Willow’s Mom is Percheron/Belgian, and her Dad is a registered Paint. He’s a big guy too, with quaterhorse in him. So Willow get the best of both my fovorite breeds! And yes I am sticking with Willow, it suits her plus she knows her name and responds to it.

whiterabbit where are you? Were you cheering the same BC storm I was cursing?

Dottygumdrop Just a hug, I hope you and your little guy get some rest.

swampbear you made me blush and I loved being sung to! Thanks!

Wow Taters 25 years! Congrats.

I’m never gonna catch up! I got as far as my post from yesterday though! I gots to go do my chores, I will try to finish this whole thread later or tomorrow!

ps, I hope all the sickies get a ton of sleep and feel better!

FarmerChick, I’m in south-central Idaho, so it was probably the same storm. My excuse for wanting snow, besides the fact that I still like it and this is my second winter here, is that this is a ski town and I work at the resort. So I sort of need it for my job. Especially this year. So far so good on that front, though. crossing fingers

Blurf. Must caffienate, then work. Oh well, I’m off tomorrow. Laundry day. I have no life.

FCM, perhaps I’ve worked for too many badly managed, shady companies but I’ve seen this type of behavior before and it never bodes well for the continued happy existence of the status quo. When people start trying to fix things that aren’t broken because of pressure from people who don’t know what they’re doing but who nevertheless control the purse strings it never turns out well. King Log transforming into King Stork is generally a good indicator that something’s amiss. Smart rabbits always have more than one bolt hole. To add flavor to the metaphor hash, when you see the really well informed rats diving over the side it’s generally a clear indication that something’s amiss… Also, I suspect it will be necessary to have a place to keep in contact with those who tripped over a prejudice and who don’t have a well stocked sock drawer.

It’s cold and blustery today, brrr. I’ve been up for a while being the animal doorman–at the moment they’re about 80% outside but brekkie time is nearly upon us so that’ll be all in a cocked hat in a bit. Grandboy is coming over this afternoon–Son and I are splitting the weekend so Daughter and SIL can get away for a womantic weekend at the coast. They’re staying in Lincoln City and have plans to hike to Drift Creek Falls and the weather should make the scary suspension bridge a real challenge! I’m sure I’ll hear all about it, possibly via panicked text message from the middle of the bridge… :stuck_out_tongue:

FarmBabe, have you had a chance to ride Willow yet? Does she ride as smooth as she looks? I haz a big envy for your living situation, I’d love to do the same–but perhaps not quite so far north, because subzero temps (either F or C) and I don’t get along too well.

Have fun, Doggio! Try not to break the sound barrier, y’hear? :dubious:

Hmmm, by the scrabbling noises coming from the back door I suspect the goggies have decided 'tis time for foodies–better attend to it before they break something… :stuck_out_tongue:

He’s more The Husband, than MY Husband, but yeah…
I am baking banana bread. Have cleaned the kitchen and paid some (small) medical bills.

I was hoping to take a long walk today, but it’s fricking cold out again. <sigh> I’ll see. I, too, couldn’t sleep last night–I haven’t had insomnia like that for a while. Ugh.

Drive safe, doggio.

Good morning my lovelies.

Sending good thoughts to JoeDawg’s gran, Swampy.

I’m glad to read HRH is doing a little better, Dotty.

Hope the trip is fun, Doggio.

I took a peek at the new place. I’m not leaving here, but like the thought of an alternate place to go to. And, while I’m not “OMG! The board is going to END!” WRT to the rules changes, I am increasingly disappointed with the administration. I said it a few months ago, the tone of the board has changed immensely since I first joined.

Now, that being said, I LURVES you guys and you’re why I keep coming back. This little refuge has brought me many smiles and laughs. You propped me up in some really bad times and showed me via PMs and emails that you really do care.

Enough of that…

I was extremely busy yesterday. I completed work I brought home, I taxied my daughter to and fro, I completed my taxes, I helped my daughter with her FASFA so it could be submitted, and lots of other things. I really didn’t sit down to relax until 9:00 last night and I was up before 7:00 am. So much for a “day off”!

Tonight, we’re going to our neighbor’s house for a party. It’s a combo 99/birthday
party. They’re going all out with decorations and food. It should be tons of fun and I’m looking forward to it.

Hubby plans to go to the dump today, since he didn’t do it last weekend. You know, it’s a real pain the ass not having a pick-up truck anymore. Now, we have to rent a trailer, so that definitely adds to the cost of a dump run. I’ll be glad to get rid of the stuff though.

Hugs and smooches to all!

Morn… errrr… afternoon, everybody.

The Angry Russian and Her Boy came over last night. We ate way too much, ranted and raved about how sucky work has been lately, and polished off the better part of two bottles of wine. They brought some homemade terrine, and I scrounged up a half-decent spread of cheese, olives, antipasto nibbles and crusty breads from the supermarket. It was lovely.

SmartyPants, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many metaphors in a single paragraph. I’m still giggling over the “tripped over a prejudice and don’t have a full sock drawer” part, though.

Shadow, I’m in full-blown wool envy. WANT. The grey-green skein is especially lovely… it looks so soft and cuddly.

OK, I’ve got a busy day… messy house to clean, some muffins to bake, and some kittens to snuggle. Better get started on that.

Back from grocery shopping - I managed to get out for under $100 - huzzah! Then I made burgers for lunch - muy yummo! My personal favorite is a burger with sour cream, sauteed onions and shrooms, and swiss. <pause for drool>

I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer, and a basket full of towels that need to be folded. The Burn Notice Marathon is on TV, and when I’m not folding, I’ll be knitting. A chill day. Yeah, it works.

**Smartie **- unless I posted under the influence and forgot what I said, I have no idea what you were talking to me about in your last post. I’m too young for dementia, right?

RIGHT?!?!?

I dunno what I want to do re the Board. I really don’t have the emotional strength or whatever right now to be all “who’s with me!” or “please don’t cause a scene” or anywhere in between. I think the new rule is stupid, short-sighted, and impossible to enact. But I’ve also done the splinter board thing and IMO the board I ran off in a huff to join became insular, petty and boring fairly quickly. It was an all nurses board, and there were 2 men on it. I’m not saying anything against the sisterhood, but the fact that women tend to look for consensus didn’t make for riveting message boarding…

Rigs, for the most part, I am staying out of the fray here. I haven’t (I don’t think), posted anything anywhere else on this board re: the latest to-do. I guess I’m taking a wait and see attitude. A girl can always hope, right?

I’m not LEAVING, just keeping my options open. I’m even going to re-up here, just because I don’t want to see the ads. I find the ads annoying.

I’m trying like hell to get motivated and DO something around the house. It’s tough, though.

After a long haul of meltdowns, splinters, splinters from splinters and a lot of upheaval recently I’ve come to a few conclusions, Rigs.

  • Splinter boards rarely make it unless they take something of value with them that will continue to draw new posters, or have a great idea of how to get the word out.

  • If they can’t take it with them, they need a way to get past being a bunch of disgruntled ex-members of the first board and create something new and unique that will attract additional people. Talking to yourselves gets old very quickly.

  • The drama is seriously wearing and exhausting if you’re very invested in it.

  • Nothing says that you can’t hang out on both boards and see how things go. It isn’t an either/or choice.

IMO the most important thing is to take care of yourself and not let it drag you down when you’re already having a rough time.
