Not a terribly creative title for the thread, but at least it’s here.
Today is my niece’s birthday. She’s 28. I knew she wasn’t a kid any long - she graduated from college and she’s teaching in the same boarding she attended for high school. She’s getting married in July. But still, it hit me this morning - she’s an honest-to-goodness adult! When did that happen??
This is the niece who was in her car seat when my sister was driving her somewhere. She (age 2 or so) was trying to prop her sunglasses on her head, but they kept slipping down. In disgust, she pulled them off, threw them to the floor, and yelled “F&%# it!” My sister nearly ruptured something trying not to laugh. She also realized she needed to watch her language - my mom would have had a stroke if she’d been in the car.
Same niece who, as she got older, absolutely hated pants! She insisted on dresses all the time - she hated the feel of the fabric along her legs for some reason. Eventually she got over it, which was good, because she was big into softball and field hockey, both of which required a certain amount of leg coverage.
Enough about a kid none of you have ever met. **FCD **has left for work and I just finished an egg sammich. The clothesline deck is clear of snow, therefore I will be laundering sheets and maybe a load of shirts today. I’m thinking of putting the harness on Higgs and going for a walk when it warms up a bit more. And I’m guessing there won’t be a lot of snow left on the ground at the end of the day - it’s melting off pretty fast. Huzzah!! I’m beginning to believe that there will be a spring after all!!
Happy Moanday!!
Happy Moonday!
I have no idea why I’m up so early, but I am.
It’s a dark 37 degrees outside and it’s supposed to get up to 54!
I think spring may actually be here although it’s not official for 12 more days.
I’ve got lots to do today, the house always needs cleaning, dishes need washing, food needs cooking, irk needs irking.
My life is so exciting.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 45 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 74 today and maybe rain. Or maybe not.
Ok, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. Rah.
Happy Moanday Y’all!
Polygamy Porter - Why have just one?
Iffn you’re drinking all of those Schaefer’s & Polygamy’s, you’re very likely to fall forward. If you’re drinking enough to fall forward *& even if you’re a teetotaler), you should go to a meeting, stand up, & say, "My name is Flytrap, I [del]have[/del] am a problem.
It’s warm enough that the sprog is about to go to school on time and finish a whole day. With any luck, there won’t be any more two-hour delays or early dismissals. We’re supposed to get snow later this week, but the temperature is supposed to be in the mid-40s, so it won’t be the apocalypse.
Hallelujah for nice weather!
Morning, mumpers! Thanks for all the buffday wishes and stuff, I had a fun weekend in Germany scoffing cake and drinking beer. The weather was perfect for spring, sunny and warm with a slight breeze so on Sunday afternoon we were wandering round the zoo with our coats off
Today it’s been relatively quiet at irk, I brought cakes and chocolate for everyone so they’re all happy with the Monday sugar fix. Other than that, irk is not as irksome as it could be so that’s a bonus. But of course, it’s only Monday.
In better news, I am going on holiday three and a half weeks!
Blurf.
Moanday sucks. Moanday after the DST switch, doubly so.
BBBobbio is grumpy today. :grumble:
All righty now! First load of laundry is about halfway thru washing. I’m showered, dressed, and I’ve got goopy on my stitches (I think it’s supposed to keep the skin supple while it heals.) Once I get the sweatshirts and turtlenecks on the line, I’ll do a load of sheets. I should probably tidy the kitchen, too. And decide what to thaw for supper.
Good gracious - does nice weather make me all productive and stuff??
They still make Schaeffer? I learned their secret while in college. There is salt in the recipe. So the first one makes you thirsty for a second, and so on and so forth, ad nauseum.
I had a fantastic weekend with my Mensa friends in Noo Joisey. I laughed A LOT and slept too little. Got home about 5:30 pm yesterday and was sound asleep by 6:00pm …
wait for it …
BLURF!!!
Looks like the sun is finally trying to break thru the clouds. Hope so - I’ve got a bunch of stuff hanging on the lines and another load that’ll go out in about 20 minutes.
Incidentally, when it’s 35° outside, venturing forth with wet hair isn’t the smartest thing you can do. Just sayin’. I think I’ll have me some hot chocolate. I can do that easily now, with the microwave and all.
I can’t go into details, but it looks like I’ll soon have much less money than I’m used to having (which wasn’t much in the first place.) Damn me.
According to my phone today’s high is only about 4° higher then the low with lots of rain for the next several days
Oh, and I’m flat broke despite getting paid 3 days ago :smack:
Absolument blurf. DST hit me like a runaway wagon full of bricks this morning. I don’t know why we do this - nor do I care - but we need to pick one time and stick with it.
zzzzzz
I am all sinus blurfy. 'Tis March, so flieth the oak and pee-khan pollen. ICK!
Yes, but worth it so that I may have pecan pie later one.
Cowboy up.
Laundry is done. Dishes have been run thru a rinse cycle (not quite enough dirties for a full load yet - maybe after lunch.)
I’ve been looking on line for a replacement refrigerator. My biggest problem is that our appliances are bisque (or almond, or beige - pick your preference) and not too many brands are offered in that color. Plus I want a bottom freezer with a single door - that pretty much limits me to Kenmore. And the 2 that seemed to fit my criteria the best both got bad reviews for being noisy. ugh.
We’ve got a side-by-side now, but because of the way I designed our kitchen layout, the right side door can’t be opened all the way. I can deal with it except when I need to clean the fridge - then I need to pull it out. That shouldn’t be a problem, but the rear wheels made little divots in the tile so getting the damned thing to start moving is a pain. It’s already caused us to mess up one door.
And unfortunately, due to the granite countertops, it’ll be waaaaaay too expensive to move things around, so I’m stuck with this layout. I suppose I could get a white fridge. I refuse to get Stainless - that’s the new Harvest Gold, as far as I’m concerned.
Why is my life so hard??? <pose of woe and despair> Stoopit fridge.
Rustoleum can fix that for you.
Yeah, BBBobbio, I know, but that just complicates matters. I’d have to paint it before bringing it into the kitchen, which means we’d have to get it up 2 steps into the kitchen, then get the old fridge down 2 steps out of the kitchen. Plus if we have issues that require a return, I’m pretty sure having painted it would cause a problem…
I know, first world problems. But it still annoys me.
