let's clone jesus!!

There was a book about this (of course), a novel called “The Genesis Code” by John Case. It’s actually a pretty interesting book.

Dr Fidelius:

“immanetizing the eschaton”

Um, huh?

I’m assuming that means, hurrying the second coming, though the only word I’m familiar with in that phrases is ‘the’ and I strongly suspect you made up one of the others, and that the other is something catholic specific.

So, Assuming that’s what you did mean… Why is making-possible the second coming a bad thing? I mean, this is when everyone gets sorted out, good and bad, and it’s not guaranteed to come at a time when everyone is dead (ie, had a complete life), so why not now, or tomorrow? What’s wrong about trying ot bring it about.

The OP asks a reasonable question, why not try (via cloning or whatever) to bring back the messiah, if he is what ‘you’ think he is?

There are plenty of science-fiction stories about monoliths and pyramids, etc, on the moon, or Mars, where when we discover them, we can signal the aliens that we’re finally worth talking to, having achieved space flight.

So, why couldn’t god work this way, letting us develop on our own until we’re able (and presumably, ready) to speak to him?

anyone see about a month ago where they found a mastodon intact in siberia? its been frozen for thousands of years and they hope to use its dna to clone/combine with an elephants. so whos to say whats impossible? maybe the catholics wouldnt want jc to return anyway . . it would probably be an embaressment to at least one of the 2 parties involved. interesting idea though, id watch the made for tv movie.

      • I have an uncle who is a carpenter. He used to have long hair, and he talks about the good old days of Nazareth.
      • On the other hand, this cloning deal sounds right up the Fox Network’s alley. It probably won’t be cheap, though. Can Jesus wrestle? - MC

Didn’t Discover magazine address this in their April Fool’s edition a few years ago?

Seriously, though, is it maybe time for Cecil to bring us up-to-date on the latest Shroud research?

I hear Great Debates calling – and we’ve been over it there before. Maybe somebody with more time on their hands can find the link.

Anyway, Erroneous said:

Depends on who you’re talking to. For unbiased scientists, it is pretty certain. For those who want it to be real, it’s not so certain. Funny, that.

Sorry, but that statement is, well, erroneous. See above.

or just a few quick links (there might be some overlap there – I didn’t have time to really check; I’d do more, but I gotta run, and I’m hoping somebody else will dig up that link I mentioned so I don’t have to go through this all again).

when it’s supposed to happen the second coming will come. it is not for mere humans to decide. that would be like a wicked huge sin. it would be making yourself God on earth. going against the 1st commandment, “I the Lord, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. You shall have no other gods besides me.”

oh sure but it would be great fun!

I really doubt the Almighty is depending on us insignificant humans to help out here. However, I don’t think it’s asking too much if we all finally starting caring for our fellow man? (Not religious, just pragmatic.)

The scary thing is that 90% of the people think they’re above average! - unknown
